it's a fine album but really not worth revisiting all that much. king kunta was the best thing to come out of it. i don't see why everybody latched onto it as an ''important political record'' when there's barely anything here worth looking into on that front, you'd get more insight on hood struggles by listening to pastor troy or some shit like that. still better than the unbearable mr morale.

I probably will never listen to more than some seconds that I already did, because I didn't enjoy the sound. The cover is supposed to show shirtless black men, boys and a baby, some of them killing a white politician (?) (similar to Reagan?) at the White House lawn and then either getting money from it or displaying the money they already have and their alcohol, and some of them celebrating something? Is the gavel on the dead white man's hand relevant to the cover's meaning (meaning it's a judge or anyone from the Judiciary)? I don't get what it was supposed to mean, express or state really. Provoke the looker because there's blacks killing a white man of power? Is that it?

I can't tell if it's more overrated in the mainstream or over-hated here. The combination of Kendrick having a moment, white guilt, and the nifty poem trick that underpins the album made a lot of normies lose their minds. It's still a really, really solid album. I give it a solid 8.

The album itself is pretty good. And if you are a black man in America who likes black genres like rap, soul, Funk and Jazz there is probably a lot to like there. The reception it got by white teens is still fake. Woke Obama BLM white guilt era made this album legendary and not the music itself. Ever since this era has officially ended you can already see how little people actually care about this album. Nobody plays any of these songs.
