Basically it falls apart and fractures into other black forms, including Rap/Hip Hop 1.0 which is a seperate genre. The trap rappers from the 2010's will be like Disco or Hair Metal, frozen as a moment in time.
I can't speak for top 40s because I don't listen to that shit but hip-hop influenced music is still going strong on the ""underground"", there are still boatloads of trap, rage,drill inspired music being put out. I think if anything the style has drifted from rapping over the beats to just plain singing over it but that has been going on for a while already
