How would you characterise the emergent indie scene of the mid 2020s? I'm what you might call an "unc". Last time I was paying attention this place was all in on stomp clap hey so it has been a while. Every time I attempt to listen to whatever the kids are listening to it's some kind of lesbian music.

I'm a millennial ('89) and in the 2010s indie became so wimpy that all my attention moved to extreme metal, because that's where all the experimentation and swagger went. I think there's still a ton of shitty, wimpy indie, but I actually think there's some really decent post-punk happening, notably High Vis and Fontaines DC. I think the coolest thing happening in rock music right now is the blackened doom metal scene, but I think the newer post-punk bands have a lot of promise.
There's super boring, mediocre shit like MJ Lenderman, Geese, Fontaines DC, etc. that all feels really worn out and unnecessary. Most of the bigger names are all from previous decades. There's a handful of new, great, well written stuff, but they rarely get the attention these boring acts get.
