I have never understood why some vocals poke out sometimes out of a mix, in certain spots. I notice this a lot with AI separated stuff but regular stuff too. Im not sure exactly how to deal with it. Is doesnt look like a volume issue but maybe it is? Transients? Sibilance?

help me, /prod/ - when you want to bounce tracks, is there any downside to doing so before effects/mixing? So if for example I had a synth line, but I wanted to apply reverb to it, should I bounce it with the reverb applied already and mix that, or do I bounce the idea and then apply reverb to that? what are the positives/negatives to these? I know that's a kind of stupid and simple example but hopefully it gets the idea across.

if 100% sure of the sound and or it is integral to the sound: bounce with.

if it (the effect (reverb etc)) needs additional control or is more a mix thing then a sound design thing: bounce separate.

if you are bouncing and then applying more effects, but you’re *not* bouncing again you’re not getting the full benefit of bouncing (cleanliness) and only partially the cpu saving.

if your sound is hard to control or highly variable (you’re making autistic music you’ll just know what i mean) then you may need to bounce in stages.

things i separate: leads, drums.
things i almost never separate: effects, pads, background (i.e i bounce the fully effected sound together (note: not necessarily layers).

if you’re a pro like me everything but basically eq compression and satiation is bounced by the end. the process to getting there requires a certain logic that can’t be easily summarized though.

How to use double tracking in the voice without having to sing it twice? I find it very hard to sing the same melody without any variation.
