For four cuts--"Wide Open" and the title cut, surrounded by "I'm Ready" and the instrumental "The Bump" (which more than earns its reprise) they make the case for their funk. I already believed but found the argument enjoyable, anyway. For the remainder of the album they make the case for their soul. I'd have been more inclined to believe if they hadn't bothered. B
