Manowar, Blind Guardian, Savatage, Grave Digger, Virgin Steele, Helloween, Dragonforce, Running Wild, Gamma Ray, Warlord, Jag Panzer, Cirith Ungol, Riot, Crimson Glory. All these are better than anything black metal has ever put out. Notice how power metal bands are all Aryan chads whereas black metal are all anorexic looking emo subhumans 41% of which commit suicide. WHITE POWER METAL REIGNS SUPREME.

My favorite's doom metal, but I love both power metal and black metal. Blind Guardian are one of my favorite bands ever. IMO the best power metal bands are the ones that lean the most into fantasy. At its worst, power metal can just be guitar noodling. Bad black metal is a lot worse than bad power metal, because it can just be shitty noise and cringe vocals, but at its best black metal can be avant-garde, cathartic, and intricate. I guess that's the catch 22, black metal can be the worst metal or it can be the best. Power Metal takes some skill to even play so it can't really be that bad, but Blind Guardian is about as good as it's possible to be, they have good songwriting and are somewhere beetween heavy metal and thrash, but that's kind of the ceiling, at least so far.
