They might have a vision for the whole thing beforehand,or occasionally a chord progression or lyrics can just pour out of them, but with a few genius or musical savant exceptions, they don't just shit out perfect complete work after getting inspired without working on it, or actually putting it all together and then refining it.

All you need is a guitar and a voice just to get an idea out there, once that's done you then bring on your other bandmates or even a producer/DAW and do the rest from there. That way if the final production doesn't feel up to your standards, you can just fall back to your original acoustic idea.
