>Can: 440,000 monthly listeners
>Faust: 37,000 monthly listeners
Anyone else not realize how much more popular Can is than Faust? It makes sense but I always grouped them together.

Faust have always been way more out there, Can were experimental but never went as far down the route of musical concrete as Faust. Also Can have the advantage of being sampled/used in films a million times over.

Looking at Spotify monthly listeners stats was eye opening to me for essentially every classic forgotten /mu/core group

I remember back in maybe 2017 or 2018 seeing My Bloody Valentine at less than 150k monthly listeners. I was surprised to see it that but figured the youth didn't care about that kind of thing like the millennials did. It was very funny to see that completely reverse in the past 5 years.

Can's just more listener friendly, pretty much everyone has one era of can that works for them and it's played in commercials (car commercial used Mary Mary) and in coffee shops.

Can actually has a competent drummer, guitarist etc. And they make good music. That goes a long way

can has the jam band crowd

Faust does that too when they aren"t fiddle diddling
