>>131683440Heavy /mu/ core stuff but it’s /mu/ core for a reason.Been awhile since I’ve listened to Nas. Usually go for Kanye for hip hop these days.>>131683553Was about to say that there’s something me thing about this chart that really makes me happy. But then I saw it. :(Really liking Space Ghost it seems.>>131684636Pleased to see Ligeti, Scriabin, Bartok, and even Scelsi there. If I had to get into Olivia Dean though what would you suggest…I just wondered though are you employed? Also get the feeling you’re British.
its all kpop :/>>131685344funniest shit i ever saw>>131686808i love the ligeti string quartets but i always bounce off piano musicthis is cracking me uphttps://youtu.be/bKNhzY_4JSw
>>131686808Rudnik high on your chart, any thoughts or impressions on him? Working part time while finishing a masters, not British.https://youtu.be/XoSjVnUVu_U?si=PY6-xIOa11jLt3Txhttps://youtu.be/oIv_Y2RPQ_A?si=eppD_uatEHNMmQJ2
>>131686890Lil Louis and Mnek aren't Kpop though are they? Also Luci Gang by the looks of it could go either way, is she also Kpop?Try some real pop (picrel)>Bounce off piano music, cracking me upThat might be because they arranged music composed for piano on three accordions for some reason.>>131686949>RudnikI listened to two of his albums. I think I was introduced to him as sort of mystique concrete-adjacent. His style was a bit different I'd say but I appreciated the electroacoustic ambience punctured by field recordings.>MastersI've thought of pursuing one overseas, but cost and qualifications end up tripping up any considerations or planning I start with.I'll watch both these videos btw.
>>131687886you know that is actually true, luci gang is korean popular music but not kpop proper and lil louis and mnek just make the kind of music kpop producers ape fromim more of a charli xcx and dua lipa kind of girlie usually but brutal and bad idea right are undeniable>3 accordionsthat reason being a joie de vivre cretins like us could only imagine
What's been going on with last.fm? Bunch of error messages over the weekend. Shit loads now but profile pages are borked. Bunch of settings set to private if you aren't logged in.
does this count? please tell me if i'm fucking up your thread i'll delete, havent poasted in years..it's mostly Argentinian records, please ask away I'll get you names and links. La Biblia - Vox Dei and Soda Stereo MTV unplugged fight for 1st and 2nd place while okcomputer rests comfortably at 3rd
>>131689107Thoughts on Agitor Lucens V or Piazzolla's Hora Zero?
>>131689107>Radiohead best of compilation lol wtf? They've always been an album band for me.
>>131689303Piazzola is my dad's goat, reminds me of sunday asado at grandpa's ; piazzola was a shoe in cuz my grandpa was a tango fanatic, he had a handful of phonographs and a vitrola along w stacks of paste discs. we still have them . i've heard Agitor mentioned by my more... real musician friends maybe i should listen
>>131689322i know but the national record seal cd makers or whatever only have rights to some of them, you can get any cd imported but it costs more, maybe for the same price of in rainbows or tame impala i can buy a vinyl from a national seal that still bring in popular records from international music
>>131689347Ye Arco Iris was Santaolalla's band back in the 70s, Agitor Lucens V is their best in my opinion, prime psych rock with a folkloric flavour. Some other Argentine goodies: Golijov's Ainadamar if you're down for opera, Mercedes Sosa en Argentina or any decent compilation of Atahualpa Yupanqui's por some folclor, personally not a fan of the recent remastered releases of the latter, they remove all semblance of resonance when cleaning up the original recordings, it's horrible, like listening through a cardboard tube.

>>131690730Thanks for the rec but 1000 Homo DJs never did it for me
Suppose this month wasn't too bad, all things considered.>>131690985I really like Deakin's one album, you should try it if you haven't.>>131690679I really like yeule, and that stuff usually isn't my sort of thing. Need to give EGIAG a spin again. You miiight like Boy Harsher's new record.
>>131691111Literally Ministry covering Black Sabbath but whatever.
>>131690985Their sophomore album is the biggest one, and the audience held on up until the 4th entry when they lost their consistency and label support then the band broke up and teformd as essentially a solo project mixed quality since then
>>131684636my favorite bardo pond album !>>131690637zwan- mary star of sea
>>131690637WEEZER!!!!!!!!+Black Sabbath as wellYou seem a nostalgic fellow.>>131688269>Luci GangWhat does her music sound like compared to Kpop?Have to confess none of the efforts by the other anons here or my irl friends have won me over to Kpop. Maybe she'll be more fortunate.>wpopBrat was pretty nice but honestly massively overrated by some crowds (and overrated by others). Due seems a fine and intelligent woman and her songs are aight.Have you tried Livy's new album yet? Her most mature and developed one to date. You might like the song Expectations.>>131690679Stockhausen next to Lalisa does make me smile. Really liking her new song it seems. As gorgeous as she is not sure I can quite get into her music though unfortunately.Been wanting to check out Unsuk Chin btw. Recs?>>131690985I've tried black midi and sorry to say I really hate them.>>131691119I know you don't I? Regret to say I haven't played my sax. How about you and the piano?>>131691226+ZappaThese compilation albums kind of throw me off and confuse me though. I get the impression you're quite young.
>>131691226+Fall Out Boy, Shins, Nick Drake, Caretaker, Kinks~Enter Shikari, Zappa, Offspringwhat's with the comps, are you on a mission to listen to the top songs? or put them on shuffle? asking genuinely>>131691119+The Sound, Belly, Smithsyou probably rec'd me Helium and i haven't listened yet sorrybeen meaning to listen to Blake Babies toorec The Hang Ups - He's After Me>>131690985Lymbyc Systym hell yeah, rare sight. their songs on the split with This Will Destroy You are timeless to me
>>131691422>luci gangnot worlds apart stylistically, especially these daysmore rap oriented and dance music based than your average girl group maybe, mostly just outside of the idol systemhttps://youtu.be/cythnn3VTLg this one went mildly viral in korea which im happy for, shes been under the radar for yearshave not partaken of the new livy or the new crj, ive been mostly looping the same 5 kpop groups discogs in a depressed haze really, but i will check it outwonder if you might like something like this:https://youtu.be/scM9jdHOPAgthatll be my contribution to anons failing to convince you
>>131691912Props to you, you managed to convince me better than the contemporary and modern classical guy and the Brazilian jazz and obscure classical guy. I actually quite enjoyed both the ones you sent. Kind of an interesting house-type beat and catchy flow on the first one and a more reverb-y feel for the second. If I ever want more Kpop stuff you’re my go-to now.>depressed hazeReally sorry to hear that. Not always the best myself but I try to keep my head up and enjoy what’s good in the world. I find romantic German opera-adjacent stuff captures my passions and emotions the most.If kpop is helping you keep going but if you want anything else just ask anytime.
>>131693512what a sweetheart you are anon, making me nostalgic for when i used to hang out here all the timelistening to the olivia rn, a lot more uhhhh 90s singer songwriter than i expectedfeels like something my mom would lovequite liking itif youre into that nostalgic housey garagey kinda style youre in luck, its actually pretty trendy in kpop atm, plenty of stuff like that>german opera adjacentyknow i never really "got" opera, always been more into chamber music, but one time i forced myself to listen to handels messiah and it actually really hit so maybe i need to try again
>>131694183>OliviaGlad you like her. I find her songwriting unique and fitting for her but also very human and increasingly mature. Rather charming and endearing.Getting some pretty great production and variety on her tracks as well.>kpop in luck Welcoming news anon. I’ll feel a lot better and open to the genre now. Will ask Brazil anon to recommend accordingly whenever you aren’t available.>operaTechnically speaking Messiah is an oratorio not an opera, but it’s quite similar in format and style of Baroque operas of the time (though I’ve only listened to romantic and modernism operas myself). If you liked Measiah try out Solomon as well though. For an opera to get into I often recommend Weber’s Der Freischütz. Still has the more traditional structure but has a lot more adventurous elements that would be expanded on in the romantic era. Otherwise take care anon, happy to have you reminisce so positively.>>131695054Cryptic but true.
Having a hard time finding a job i like at the moment, but otherwise things are good>>131690637La Sexorcisto is my go to for White Zombie>>131686808Ma6be trie Lugubrum - albino de congo>>131691594Blaze Foley - Dawg years
>>131691594>what's with the comps, are you on a mission to listen to the top songs? or put them on shuffle?Often put my whole Library on Shuffle, and given that these comps have so many Songs, they nearly always appear on my Chart. It surprises me that more people here do not listen to Comps, is it that idea of the Album as art? Only prefers particular Artist? Probably about 40% of my library is V/A
>>131695567Based fellow va appreciator
>>131695422I have a T.O.O.H.! shirt from their bandcamp but the back of the shirt looks like shit so i only wear it in winter when im sure to wear a layer over it lol. based to see them. Obliveon too. honestly I should be more familiar with Blaze Foley thanks for the recmaybe you like thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC44HdQooRg>>131695567>is it that idea of the Album as art?Yeah, in short. paired with a bit of cynicism. consider a genre compilation: I don't trust that if I'm listening to a comp of 20 songs by 20 different artists I'm really getting a great spread of that genre. It's gonna be all the popular hits right? And not the beloved b-sides of the main artists in the genre?as a songwriter myself i aspire to write catchy tunes, so it's no knock on singles. But personally I look to explore new genres and artists a lot, and VA releases mostly just give me the list of artists to check out more than anything. I know you're listening to these just as your library on shuffle and not necessarily for exploration so it's not a dig, just thought to offer my two cents and i appreciate yours. if i had a car and a CD of the top 100 classic rock songs i bet i would put it on shuffle when i drove so you're probably onto something frankly
>>131697425I never really liked the term "classic rock". Marketing term meant to cater to boomer nostalgia and chauvinism. Imo not any more useful than the the term "indie rock", "alternative rock", or "adult contemporary".But I feel the same way about compilations and playlists. Never been a listener of them and feels wrong if I do listen that way. Better to take in an album or release or composition as an entire independent work of creative output.
luv compshttps://youtu.be/rTtvObF4TA8
>>131691119Pisces Iscariot is so good, also Your Arsenal is easily my favorite Mozzer project. Good taste, anon

It's gonna be all the popular hits right? And not the beloved b-sides of the main artists in the genre?it varies (heh), some are really cool and unique collections of a certain type of tunes or a sound that it's not very well known. but it does also helps as a brute force exploration, for example i did not know much Rap, and the "top 1000 songs" i grabbed has showed me some i didnt know>>131698447cooool
