That new Interpol album was pretty, pretty good. Almost as good as Antics. I'm jealous of anyone who got to see them in that 250 capacity venue in NYC last night

I wonder why so many legacy acts have suddenly been making their best music in years

I saw them in Colombia a couple of months ago, and I must say I was a bit boomed about their drummer being replaced:(
Their groove is gone!!!

Because all of their promo hype machines have dried up so they actually have to make good material for people to listen to it

Most talented artists draw from some kind of feelings related to disconnect, conflict, disquiet, contradiction malaise and general cognitive unease. Of course there are exceptions, but it is well known that the majority of artists reach a (sometimes permanent) creative slump after a certain amount of career success and personal comfort takes the edge off of their perception of life.
Certain things about the world have gotten so shitty that even wealthy, out of touch legacy hipsters are feeling their first actual emotions since the 9/11 era.
Why consumers of art would, in general, rather prefer portrayals of "negative" things from borderline insane sculptors and bipolar songwriters- rather than nice, happy people painting and singing nice happy songs- is another conversation.
