you can make anything a fingerstyle just adding the accompanying notes
for example
single notes

chordified

then you can add all your little finger picking patterns too if you're so inclined.

lmao no, you really can't. this is dumb shit idiots who watch goysloptube parrot because they watched some clickbait garbage video. you have broke shitheads like tom bukovac lying to these retards because the entire industry has taken such a shit that they can make more money making shitty goysloptube clickbait than they can on studio sessions. the problem is no one would watch someone like bukovac play his boring McCountryโ„ข licks so he needed another angle. so he says stupid shit and pretends it's "insider session player knowledge" because he knows the npc dumbasses watching don't have the capacity to question or scrutinize what he's saying. a lot of McMusicโ„ข being recorded in nashville is being done in project studios on tight budgets and bukovac isn't getting paid enough to do more than the bare minimum so he doesn't want to haul around enough gear in his car to be able to come up with any sound the producer needs. this means he's not traveling with a tele, a strat, and a les paul or multiple amps. instead he's showing up with one guitar, one pedalboard, and one amp so he can load in and load out as quickly as possible. and if that's not the sound they're looking for? he eq's it to do a half-assed impression of whatever sound they wanted. does it sound right?
>who gives a shit, we're making goyslop for the mindless masses!

Anyway my point is that it's stupid to make one guitar sound like something it isn't.
Guitars are meant to be picked based on a situation. There is no reason to have one heckin expensive Gibson. The point is to have everything.
>>
>>131700518
they do make super high resolution equalizers but someone like bukovac isn't loading racks of shit in and out of his car ever day because he doesn't give a shit enough to bother. he'll do the least he can get away with and lie to idiots and tell them it's the way to go because he knows they're too stupid to know when a huckster is talking. basically if it isn't easy and takes time or effort, he ain't doing it. there's a good reason why his youtube presence didn't start until 2020, he'd literally do/say anything to keep from having to get a real job

youโ€™ll get better at it. took me a solid 6 months to get to where I didnโ€™t feel any difference between slapping flats and much lower tension rounds. Iโ€™d really recommend not ever practicing with a compressor if you do
>>
>>131701193
I'm already pretty advanced, it's just that flats are way too slippery for it. I have no problem doing it on rounds. Flats do sound pretty damn nice in the upper register though, the overtones are unlike anything I get from rounds when thumbing.
>>
>>131701202
lmao ok
>>
>>131701193
I just read you're talking about slapping, I was referring to another technique. Slapping flats or rounds makes no real difference to me, but doing something like vid related on flats seems to be impossibly hard, my middle and ring finger just slip off the strings sometimes

youtu.be/-f2Nzd6YVR4?t=190
>>
>>131701298
Double thumbing is the same thing as slapping. You can choose how much string noise you want in it but fundamentally the downstroke should look the same, slapping through the string. Anyway like I said keep practicing and they wonโ€™t feel too slippery.
>>
>>131700942
Fun fact, actually emulating the tone of different guitars requires a hexaphonic piezo bridge, with each stringโ€™s isolated output passed to a minimum of two comb filters (to emulate the position and aperture of the pickup for that string; 2 more per pickup position mixed in if you want to emulate, say, bridge + neck) which are then summed to a single signal and then passed through a lowpass filter before hitting the regular tone circuit. An EQ, even a good one, does pretty much does nothing to approximate this.

But you could in principle build a little DSP chip on like a raspberry pi and then have digital parametric pickup modulation, where you slide, resize, and angle any arbitrary number of imaginary pickups to get the sound of any electric guitar you want. Nobody has ever done this but it could be done. But you have to start with a โ€œpureโ€ tone (no interference from the guitarโ€™s regular pickups shaping the tone to start with) and it requires processing each guitar stringโ€™s signal separately.

Oh, and it has to be retuned to the guitarโ€™s open tuning in order to work because pickup response is a function of string frequency not scale length. So if you go drop D you have to retune your pickup emulation too.
>>
He's right you know.

Thatโ€™s cool and all but I donโ€™t want to sound like other people.

2 months, I've learned the basic open chords (pic related). I can play them and I'm fairly good at transitionning between them. By good I mean comfortable, sometimes I don't get it right and it buzzes.
So that's what I try to practice everyday, I spend between 15 minutes and 2, 3 or 4 hours a day depending on my schedule.
I do this exercise where you put your 4 fingers on 4 frets on the G chord and practice moving them one at a time alternating between E and Em strings to practice fingers moving independantly from each other, and it's really not easy, it rapidly aches my hand. And sometimes I also try to play songs, I tried power chords but it buzzes so it makes me angry because everybody says it's so much easier than other chords. My biggest problem is really my left hand fingers... I can play a barred chord but it's not natural, I switch betwen open chords rapidly, in rythm, but when a barred chord comes in it takes me 1 or 2 seconds to place my fingers, then it sounds good, but it's so out of rythm.
Sorry for the rant but I'm angry at myself I just want to improve and I feel like I don't despite my efforts.

after 15 years of playing squiers and epiphones I just bought a fender stratocaster and wow its amazing. Wish I could share pics or audio rn but my phone isn't connecting. I got it in sunburst bros, its so articulate and the pickups are more rocking and hot than expected and the fit and finish are perfect. What was your first "high end" guitar and how did it treat you guys?
>>
>>131703307
Two months is really not that long in the grand scheme of things. However I would recommend trying to play more songs because your journey will be a lot more fun. If you want to give coursework a try I would really recommend artistworks, Iโ€™ve had good luck with it. I havenโ€™t tried all the courses but the video feedbacks are incredibly helpful but specifically my instructor took popular tunes and broke them down into 3 difficulties so even as a beginner you were still playing the foundation of the lead and rhythm of the song just with less notes. Learning through application instead of exercises really changed the way I practiced for the better.
>>
>>131703377
Thank you anon, I'll look for it tomorrow. I started with justin guitar but I rapidly dropped out becausse many of his exercices didn't fit for me, I played bass when I was a teenager so I already knew the basics of rythm etc.

The issue with Melodyne is the FFT algorithm rounds off the high end and produces artifacts on non-tonal voice elements (consonants, rasp, etc).

Its best use, both when you struggle to carry a tune AND when you want to experiment with harmonies, is to sing the part, correct it, and then re-record the part with the corrected vocal as a guide version of your own voice to sing along with to get better takes.

Using performance correction software is not โ€œunethicalโ€ though, unless youโ€™re trying to flex a talent you donโ€™t have.

Try to learn chords away from open positions. Aim for root+major/minor 3 + perfect 5 with root on the bass E string or A string
Your main focus should be not learning boomer chords but figuring out the relationship of the important intervals within the chord and being able to find it anywhere on fretboard.
You paid for the full fretboard - you should use full fretboard.

itโ€™s the concept of being under pressure. same thing with using a metronome, itโ€™s a form of pressure. need to get better at playing under pressure by recording yourself more or get so good at playing that whatever youโ€™re trying to record is far enough below your skill level that you donโ€™t make as many mistakes, or a mix of both which is more typical. clean and in time always sounds better than being more complex and being sloppy and out of time. donโ€™t feel bad about taking the lower road
>>
the metronome is literally mating pressing you until you're preggy with song

>>131708769

>>
>>131708794
Depends on how much youโ€™re practicing I think. In my experience it has been a lot like lifting weights, it depends on your frequency and intensity how much rest you need. I practice about 3-4 hours a day every day and can definitely tell when I am beating my head against a wall and need a break.
>>
>>131708717
I told you that you need to work on your syncopation but you think youโ€™ve got it all figured out. great job now you blew it
>>
>>131708813
Do you feel like at some point it's getting dangerous for your progress? By that I mean practicing bad habits
>>
>>131708816
I think as long as you arenโ€™t letting your technique get sloppy itโ€™s ok. I also count rehearsing/playing songs as practice, and any time spent with the guitar even if itโ€™s just noodling is developing your ear and solidifying your technique. But yes, if you are playing something far too advanced or fast or youโ€™re just going through the motions and your technique has fallen apart then you most definitely can imprint those mistakes back into your playing. I think thatโ€™s where the slow is smooth smooth is fast mantra comes from.
>>
>>131708858
Meant to say I actually just went through this. I play acoustic and I was working on building my speed and while I could play at those tempos I practiced the follow through out of my picking and strumming slowly over time so when I went back to playing slower my tone sucked and I had problems getting hung up on strings in certain passages. I had to drop the metronome by 50 bpm and start over for 2 months basically. Time wasted.
>>
>>131708794
you can get into a rut of practicing the same shit too much. I sometimes takes months off. I only notice if I late long breaks and then it takes maybe a few weeks to a month to get back up to speed

I wanted to write something that sounded English so I looked up what key "Time" by Pink Floyd is in. Turns out it's in F# Minor played at 122 bpm. So I set my Yamaha keyboard to play a drum track at 122 and started fiddling around. Finally got a bassline written so I grabbed my guitar and started playing it in a more riffy way. Pretty satisfied with what I got out of that experiment, but idle doesnt sound English at all

noob here, any recommended wiring mods for a strat? Having bridge + neck sounds cool, but blender mod seems kinda retarded since positions 2 and 4 give basically the same result with diff knob positions, maybe I'm missing something tho since so many people online seem to like this one.
Kinda tempted to just go full retard and add 3 separate mix knobs and 3 tone knobs and phase inversion for each pickup, then I'd still be missing a series mode though I don't know if I want that.

>>
>>131711106
Only mods I do are wire the first tone knob to neck only and the second tone knob to middle and bridge. I use positions 2 and 5 the most and having independent tone knobs for those two positions is convenient. Having a push/pull pot to get neck and bridge or all three pickups together is kind of fun but when I had that in a Strat I rarely used neck/bridge or all three so I took it out.

Hey /gg/uys I have a problem with my bass. The action is still pretty high even after getting a setup done. The tech said that this is the best he can do with the truss rod without shimming the neck. Now, I love the instrument, especially the way the neck feels except for the high action. Should I get the neck shimmed, see if I can get it heat treated, or have it Plek'd?
>>
>>131713494
is it weird then that I would choose a neck like that because it has more "character?"
not like I would seek it out, but in a lineup of 3 guitars, and two with necks with minimal figuring

I've actually been looking for an old Bassman or Bandmaster cab but have had no luck. Most people selling cabs want local pickup only, and most are beat to shit.

Lots of exampled of people using Bassmans through Marshall cabs though. Sounds pretty damn good, just need to get the speakers broken in and smooth it out a little bit.

If thatโ€™s the best your tech can do find a new one or learn to do it yourself. Just from your pic those frets are seated horribly. Settling up a bass has so many moving parts. What type of bridge do you have? Have you checked the nut action? What bass is this? Your playing style matters too. A pick setup is different from a finger setup. Do you have a heavy or light right hand technique?
