>>131697085because theres no blacks here duh
Got no time for soul these days. It's boring old fuck music that relies on emotional manipulation to appear good.

I told my ni/gg/as neo soul was my favorite genre and someone called me a liar.
>>131697085Sam Cooke and Lou Rawls are worth discussing, not much else about the genre is. Doo-wop was where it was at.

>>131697085I have a very specific reason for not liking soul music. My dad used to play the AM radio soul station all the time when I was at the peak of my car sick phase. My memories of soul music are mostly of bumping down the very bad roads of our rachet city while it sounds like a bunch of black guys harmonizing falsetto through a cheap walkie talkie and I am ready to puke the entire time.I recognize it as objectively good music but thats the memory it brings back.
I listen to Booker T and the MGs and Otis Redding a fair bit. and Stevie Wonder. and Junior Walker.
I still buy Stax and certain Motown 45's when I see them in the wild
>>131697085I love soul music, this is the bulk of my collectionThe majority is southern soul, I'm not as big on MotownSome lesser-known recs:>Lee Moses>George Jackson>Howard Tate
>>131703203And the rest
>>131697085The majority of this board are tastelets who mainly care about musical complexity
