>prog turned pop band out of the blue release a Beatles tribute with original songs that sound like Beatles songs>support it with a tour where they dress like the Beatles and play Rickenbackers and Hofners >next record is immediately back to where they left off >never do anything like it again What are some other examples of bands paying homage to their influences with original music themed as if it were a cover band? If it was a constant thing it’d be a total gimmick (homo Greta Van Fleet doing a 24/7 Zeppelin/ACDC knockoff for example is super gay) but to just do it once for fun then never again is pretty cool imo. Todd Rundgren is the GOAT.
