>>131703679hippies don't get enough shit for their weird transition into cowboys when the 70s hit
Not nearly as good as Gilded Palace
>>131703679Hickory Wind is the best Byrds song
Nearly every bit as good as Gilded Palace
>>131703686you don't get enough shit for being a faggot
People make fun of The Monkees while this dogshit tribute band was just as bad
>>131703686It was the coolest thing ever. Go back
>>131703686Why should they be getting shit for discovering good music and style
>>131703679Should really be Gram Parsons & The Byrds. I like it but I love the "GP" album more.
>>131703679there's a few tracks I enjoy but as an album its patchy and one dimensional. They peaked on the previous 2 album (esp NBB which is their masterpiece), this sounds like a totally different band out of ideas so hey lets try this country shit, didn't fit their vibe and Gram did better country stuff in all his other projects>>131703686they'd made a few bucks and Manson scared them into moving to the country and switching acid for coke, probably seemed like a good idea at the time
>>131703679III LIIIKE THE CHRIIIISTION LIIIFE
>>131703706Counterpoint: Brass Buttons
>>131704154>(esp NBB which is their masterpiece)the fuck is this shitain't no way
>>131703679Hot take: I like the Byrds and love classic country, but don't care much for Gram Parsons' approachHe lacked energy and grit IMO
Good album but I like the international asubmarine band and Parsons post Byrds stuff more. Wish Clarence White was a full time member during the Gram Parsons days and could fully contribute instead a session man, would have loved to see those 2 play off each other.
>>131703679parsons was the only good songwriter in the byrds
>>131704474What do you mean, the Byrds wrote tons of classics like Mr. Tambourine Man and The Times They Are A-Changing
>>131703679>critics hate country music>never see any pure country albums on greatest albums lists>a bunch of faggots try to add a little country to rock>OMG THIS IS LIKE THE GREATEST THING EVER!!!! THAT GRAHAM PARSONS GUY IS LIKE A GENIUS!
>>131704474Huge GP fan but Gene Clark was way better than him. Gram was a better performer than he was either a singer or a songwriter, nobody could sell his songs like he did
>>131703679>still no surviving record of the infamous grand ole opry performanceThese lost media zoomers need to get on the shit that really matters.
>>131704536This wasn't "pure country" by any means, it was country-rock, smart guy.
>>131705217It honestly just sounds like country performed by amateurs who don't know much about the style
>>131705412Their song selection and arrangements obviously demonstrate a true music nerd’s passion for both traditional and contemporary country music at its best. Gram Parsons was a zealous convert to the style and Chris Hillman literally played in a bluegrass band before joining the Byrds, hardly neophytes. Funny enough you never, ever heard anyone hold the cynical fatsos who churned out the real inauthentic crossover slop in Nashville to the same snobby standard.
>>131705893Owned that fag
>>131703686traditionalism is actually one the only possible escape from what the hippies fought against tho (the other is active violent "terrorism"/revolution/destruction, which uh mostly leads to death). Tabula rasa or return to the roots. Now, both have been commodified (ex. MAGA turned into MIGA rather than establishing a proper anarcho-fascist revolution, what a shame... SHAME!)having said that, cool album but I prefer any of their previous albums desu (Gene Clark' solo career sounds more authentic too)
