Nothing, the most useless pathetic untalented generation in recorded music history, the human era of music ended not with a bang, but with a whimper. AI will soon replace gen z artists, leaving only legacy acts able to go on tours and draw attention by releasing new music.

>Danny Brown worked with Femtanyl, Jane Remover, ISSBROKIE, Quadeca, Johnnascus, Underscores, Cynthoni (Sewerslvt) and Frost Children on the Stardust album last year and co-signed Lucy Bedroque

>Kendrick Lamar co-signing or working with La Reezy, Doechii, Peysoh, Baby Keem and Young Threat.

>Porter Robinson working with Ninajirachi

>Playboi Carti building up the Opium roster with Ken Carson, Homixide Gang and Destroy Lonely along with working on YVL.

>Skrillex brining on Knock2, Frost Children, Tiffany Day and Slayr on a live show

>I literally just came back from seeing August Burns Red play with I Promised The World and two local bands like 5 days ago.

>HURR DURR AI WILL SOON REPLACE GEN Z ARTISTS AND ONLY LEGACY ACTS WILL REMAIN HUMANITY IS DOOMED BECAUSE I AM A RIGID SACK OF SHIT THAT CAN'T EXPLORE OUTSIDE OF MY OWN BOUNDARIES WAAHHHHHH

Shit is grim but you just have to keep pushing forward. Also maybe... just maybe... we actually still want to see our artists live? Shocking right?

What an awful dogshit pile of garbage you mentioned, thanks for proving my point... issbrokie, playboi carti, slayr, jane remover... AI already produces better material than these halfwits you so proudly mentioned, nobody on that list interest me in any way, they're in no way better than Drake, or any other slop creators that are popular to shit on on music rating sites.

You mentioned me being "rigid", then why don't YOU try changing your (dogshit) taste too ? you braindead scum.
Go get your ears checked, they're already rotten from listening to such garbage, even AI would be ashamed of.

You could've had a good argument but you listed absolute shart. Is this really what Gen Z has to offer? What's next, you're gonna pull out fucking Geese? Music is dead and Gen Z killed it.
>>
>>131728038
I only like about a third or the artists on that list. Also who else am I supposed to fucking listen to from artists my age? It's either that stuff or mediocre versions of old genres.

>No way better than Drake
You can't be fucking serious. Fucking scumbag.

Also I used to be rigid rockist that's what came out. I was into "Real Emo", Old Indie, 90s and 2000s Hip Hop and Old Alt Rock and I had to adapt to Trap music in order to get into modern music.

Maybe I should just fucking give up. Fuck this board. Fuck modern music. Fuck old music and fuck you.

Said the fucking Hipster. Sitting on your fucking barely producing any fucking bands that anyone gives a fuck about that aren't Australian. Kill yourself parasite.
>>
>>131728124
I listed those artists BECAUSE THEY WERE ONES THAT ESTABLISHED MILLENNIALS worked with. It wasn't fully objective you fucking prick.
>>
>>131728134
>>131728124
Gen X killed music. The late 80's and early 90's is when music became entirely unlistenable.
>>
>>131728038
Again I mentioned them because Millennial artists were working with them. That was the fucking point. Dickhead.

You listen to old music. Like you said, get out of your boundaries. There's more than /mu/core.
>I had to adapt to Trap music in order to get into modern music.

the perception of gen Z as having no good music is because of the death of monoculture. they have a lot of extremely good underground music, even if it is often derivative. but still better than 99% of millennial music which feels overly corporate
>>
>>131728462
I have been hearing this horseshit about how romantic and great the underground music scene is for 25 years. Indie music has the same exact problems as mainstream music; formatted template based shit that can only consider song form and the music itself ultimately being just an advertisement for the performer's personality which is the primary medium.
What ends up happening is social climber types who got rejected by the mainstream start their own walled garden they can enforce the same gulag rules in.
It offers no meaningful alternative.
>>
>>131728462
Not true AT ALL, I check underground (very few ratings) releases a lot, there was a huge decline in quality, noticeable by the mid 2010s.
It will depend on your music taste (if you like electropop/rage, the 2020s are good) but all my favorite genres mostly died out in the last decade, even underground artists only release bland pastiches, forget "groundbreaking" they can barely make anything decent anymore, any year of the 00s beats the whole 2020-2026 span. There is a big dearth of good music, gen z artists are unskilled/untalented and seem unable to even copy the past in a satisfactory manner.
>>
>>131728532
A lot of it wasn't their fault. Boomers are really and I mean REALLY about idol worship so they taught mid tier blues shit as this magical inpenetrable thing.
The problem with Gen Z is they side with boomers against millennials every time they're on the point.
>>
>>131728462
>but still better than 99% of millennial music which feels overly corporate
Millennials had a better underground scene overall. If you take their contribution to the 2000s and the early 2010s into consideration.

>>131728532
The 2010s was full of the same thing though. It didn't start with our generation and you could take it all the way back to some Gen X artists in the 2000s with the Post-Punk revival and Garage Rock revival imo.
>>
>>131728532
I'm mostly into emo and electropop and listen to a little indie, so I'm very happy with the underground artists that have been coming out lately. if you're into that kinda stuff then check out train breaks down, first day back, aspartame, stella, the ritornello form, and AEIOU. the scene is small but it's thriving
>>
I'm not gonna put generations into this but I think we could all agree it started going to shit in the mid 2010s once Scene starting died off and Soundcloud rap replaced rock music.
>>
>>131728601
Yep. 2015 was the last hurrah for postwar boomer derived music culture.
>>
>>131728591
could you name some artists from the millennial scene? perhaps I'm ignorant but apart from gems like crystal castles my impression of millennial music is slop like my chemical romance, paramore, fall out boy, and bring me the horizon
>>
>>131725200
>Gen X has Alice In Chains
It's Nirvana. I like AIC better too but don't pretend it's not Nirvana. And millenials' is My Chemical Romance.

The real answer is that there are plenty of good gen z music talents it's just impossible to find them because this is the first generation in which music isn't platformed by agencies, talk shows, radio etc because of splintered attention from the fall of a central attention stage (Television, newspapers) who gives a shit enough to check out a bandcamp or youtube with less than 30 views. we're all in different worlds stuck in an algorithm designed for our specific interest and that doesn't align with growth which previous generations had along with wealth and connections

The best case scenario is you use your niche popularity as a portfolio to get picked up by the majors anyway. Most likely thing is you take a $20k bath to sleep in parking lots and play at some dweeb's house in Lancaster and coast to coast drug addict promoters go home with 100% of the profits.
It's a train of thought to nowhere.
>>
>>131728737
and the better alternative is selling out to producers who will own your soul for as long as you make music? be completely beholden to every whim of your jewish corporate overlords? fucking lmao, what a pathetic way of thinking. kill yourself

There is no underground operating independently from that. Every show and I mean EVERY show has some kind of handler who has connections with the industry in the back not to discover artists but to make sure everything is kosher if you will.
You're the one being a good goy right now.

I'm familiar with the fall of troy and merchant ships. the fall of troy is alright but their music has that over-polished pop punky third wave emo sound which sounds terrible to me. merchant ships is a fantastic band and has similar qualities to some of the bands that are coming out now, especially train breaks down

>>131728823
there is, most of these artists are completely DIY. they release music on bandcamp and perform at independent venues and house shows
