I think Psychosurgery is the stronger of Tourniquet's albums but the debut isn't half bad.

Hey spooktober bros, just finished Hellraiser 3. Just thought I'd mention it because Bruce Dickinson appears in it and the soundtrack is heavy metal.
>>
>>131800310
I still need to see the Hellraiser sequels, the second film felt like a good stopping point so I never sought them out

Yeah, 3 was over the top I felt. There's a discussion about it in the /hor/ thread, I saw some of you guys there, comparing terrifier to modern metal bands. And actuallt I wanted to make that comparison; I hate Jack Black. I want to stomp him until he loses his teeth. I want to do to him what the sadists want to do to Warwick Davis. I want to be Pinhead when Jack Black finds the box.
With school of rock he killed heavy metal. He was the one who tried to kill it. He is the jester sidecar-riding sidekick to Sharon Osbourne. With his stupid movie, he was signalling to corporate america, to the middle classes of the world that heavy metal, that rock'n'roll was at most a memory, that it had no fangs, that it's a way to "release pent up feeeeeeeewiiiiings", that there was no threat in it, that it's ok for rich kids to listen to it before they grow up to trample our lives.
I want to drag him to the desert and bat his children in front of him, let them die in front of his eyes. I have hatred for Jack Black and every decent human being should have too. Jack Black is the jester bootlicker that should be tortured and bullied without prejudice if he ever stepped foot outside of a heavy metal venue. But he won't. Why? Because they don't exist anymore, because of guys like him. He can hang out with Lars and James, just like Tom Hanks prides that he was on a yacht cruise with Obama and Michelle, these are the values of those people, the deadening, the retraction of all juices of life, the mechanism of commodification, the worshipping of material wealth.
We should cultivate hatred for Jack Black and for people like Jack Black. Hating Jack Black is the only way to bring back heavy metal and heal humanity.
Does anyone have a picture of Metal Blade records when they launched, where it read somewhere "relive the counterculture of the 60s in the new heavy metal sounds" or something to thay effect? Yeah, that's the war banner against Jack Black.

Iron Fist rips and is my favorite classic Motorhead album.

Dream Evil are so insanely underrated. Their first three albums are classics and should be in every heavy/power metal fans collection.

Thoughts on Dokken's studio version of "Paris Is Burning" that was only found on the Carrere press of Breakin' the Chains? I'm surprised it never got officially released beyond the original vinyl issue whereas the live version has seen digital issues:
https://youtu.be/7EdljNVRXEU
https://youtu.be/illZ9YaPprY

"We're Illegal" was also re-recorded and the lyrics changed for the US press to "Live to Rock (Rock to Live)"
https://youtu.be/a9aDiOhR3pk
https://youtu.be/hx_tXKWCTpE

Which versions do you prefer?
>>
>>131802179
I'm leaning to the live version of Paris Is Burning, if not only because the production on the studio version is abhorrent. But in general I'm against putting live songs on a studio album.

I also think We're Illegal is better than Live to Rock. The lyrics seem to fit better and even a title like "Live to Rock" is completely devoid of substance
>>
>>131802285
Yeah, I'm definitely with you on "We're Illegal" being so much better than "Live to Rock (Rock to Live" as it sounds utterly bloodless especially when compared to the original song.

I prefer the studio version of "Paris Is Burning" on account of the layered vocals sounding better, although yes, the live version is solid. And yeah, on principle, a studio version of the song should've made the US issue with the live track being a bonus track somewhere else. I think the studio version's tinny production might sound better if the original master tapes were tracked down and remastered. Alas, we may never see that.

This was featured in Men in Black 2. No idea how this obscure heavy metal song made it into that movie.

Belgian metal greatness. A more OVER THE TOP Motorhead experience. Similar to Fingernails from Italy

as much as Negru can't stop trolling and bullshitting, he's right that EUPM belongs in these threads, the style is pedigreed and it can be traced to predecessors way back in the 70s.
>>
>>131807049

Was there ever any doubt? It's one of the epitomes of traditional metal. You might as well say Running Wild, Helloween, and Pretty Maids don't belong in these threads, which is stupid.

Also, marginally related but damn this is good:

I see you still haven't touched a woman. It must be inconceivable to you that girlfriends have periods.

Maiden is older than those bands.

The point is though, that there's an entire large group of people whose idea of metal is Ratt, Warrant, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Dokken, bands I've barely or never listened to. Are they wrong? Am I missing out? Have I been psyoped by genre purism?

>Are they wrong? Am I missing out? Have I been psyoped by genre purism?
Dokken and Twisted Sister are the only two bands here that are actually metal, rest are more rock-oriented.
>Twisted Sister
TS were actually one of the heavier bands on the scene in 1982. Even their breakthrough record, Stay Hungry, is still very much heavy metal.

Just those amazing European melodies. (Yes I'm aware Metallica is Unitedstatesian, I meant just those melodies).

Another great recommendation from YouTube.

Does anyone else think that heavy metal got a lobotomy with NWOBHM? Compared to the artistry of Rainbow and Judas Priest in the '70s era, with lyrical songs, NWOBHM relied more on mechanical cookie-cutter pedal tone riffs, with a few more creative exceptions (Iron Maiden, Angel Witch). Despite their speed I find bands like Tank and Jaguar very boring, and other stuff like Samson and Saxon are too simplistic and rock-leaning. I do like Holocaust for their heavier and darker approach, but that's a different story.
>>
>>131800603

Cameraman is classic af "have you seen what he did to me you little bitch?!" You have to take things for what they are. Hellraiser 3 was fan service. People wanted monstrous cenobites and they got them. If you look for more from it than that, you'll be disappointed.

I dig your passion but Jack Black has a pretty good singing voice. I suspect metal dying has a lot more to do with industry observing the potential in rap music for an economy of scale market strat. Metal, all instrument music, really, is fundamentally more difficult to produce than sample track rap. What makes it even better is how cheap it is to buy a negro. Lil' Wayne is a pretty great example of this. Every spook on the block "writing raps" looking for a get rich quick. Scoop one up and promote him. They already knew they could do this with Vanilla "Oh Na Na" or whatever it was called. Drive shit up on the charts with their magazine and critic apparatus, which has only ever been marketing since Adorno, and that pasty fag was probably marketing too.

You'd like Praying Mantis, or I'd be extremely surprised if you didn't.

https://youtu.be/Szg0FgqgMP4?is=a4V-Rj46-9oxqYBW

I thoroughly enjoy the story told here. It's evocative of Ursula Le Guinn's frozen wasteland stories like Left Hand of Darkness in the best possible way.

That album cover is fucking scary.
