People born in 1996 enjoy music more than any other people. Anyone older than us refuses to listen to new music and anyone younger than us only likes music for identity politics reasons or vibes.
>>131822202need somebody with a human touch
Youngins tend dislike older music is my bigger takeaway. I'm 40+, and we listened to 50s stuff if we thought it was good.
what is there to enjoy?rock is dead, hip hop is dying, mainstream music is just generic pop sluts or country pop garbage. so called underground music is what, rage, trap, hyerpop, just really shit music for overstimulated zoomer retards

>>131822202what about 1997 and 1998 anon. i think these 3 years are the boundary between millennials and zoomers, where soul exists.
I don't like the simplification of melodies past 2000. I'm a total mainstream pop retard, but the mainstream sucks way harder now. I feel like I could do it, and I'm not good.
>>131822352>i think these 3 years are the boundary between millennials and zoomers, where soul exists.generations are made up bullshit but the general convention is that 1996 is the transition year and 1997 and 1998 are the start of Gen Z

>>131822363generations are not made up, but originally a generation was the time it takes for someone's kid to have their own kids. eventually it was changed to the marketing concept that is used to gauge consumer preferences
>>131822202everything "new" is frankenstein rehashing of shit that was already made
>>131822384>generations are not made upYes, they are absolutely just made up>but originally a generation was the time it takes for someone's kid to have their own kids. No, it isn't, and even if that were the case, you couldn't use this to define epochs based on general birth year like how it's often used today because things like age gaps (which do exist and aren't going away despite how sheltered by the internet you are) would make this metric complicated anyways
>>13182220295 last of the millennials here, I still listen to new music. In fact I barely listen to any old music at all
this is why people dont listen to new musicoriginal :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UVNT4wvIGYnigga reparation rehash that no one asked for : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riCP9x31Kuk

>>131822410>Yes, they are absolutely just made upin the sense that everything is made up, even electrons, sure. and i agree that the marketing terms are mostly made up, but the concept of a generation as a birth cycle is closer to empriical science than things like gen x can't define epoch because i don't know the exact definition for epoch, you're being obtuse though. things like gen z and gen y and etc are just literal marketing terms that are used in market research. that's why there were so many articles about millennials killing x business or zoomers being horrible coworkers. >because things like age gapslike dating age gaps? what are on about?
>>131822477AI sounds shit tho
>>131822486i'm actually happy ai is making rehashers obsolete make something original you fucking wannabe star
>>131822202>>131822272as a '96er it's not all doom and gloom if you like skramz and twee pop. Knumears, Rhododendron, Mildred, Placeholder, My Point of You, First Day Back, and The Ritornello Form are all young and pushing these genres in creative and interesting ways. Febuary playing Coachella (regardless of whether you fw the music) is a fantastic sign for the future of screamo.Millennials and Gen Zers long for a time before the Iraq War and are looking towards the boundary-pushing ideals of the late 80s and 90s. There's no going back, clearly, but the ethos of DIY and making intentionally challenging music is re-emerging.

>>131822642I can't hear a single influence from the 2000s in these bands that I mentioned. It's very 90s influenced. Jeromes Dream, Dazzling Killmen, Unwound, Tiger Trap, Cap'n Jazz, and Jejune come to mind as worn-on-the-sleeve influences to each of these bands.

I was born in 1988 (38 yo). You'd have a hard time finding someone who listens to more music than me outside of the internet. I don't think it has to do with being old, just how soon you had the internet. And even then, there will always be exceptions. Digital natives are generally more tapped in regardless of their age, and they probably remain curious longer. Music is a massive part of my daily life and I can't see that changing. Picrel, it's shit from my Spotify wrapped, which probably has more hand-picked songs than most people will ever listen to in their life.
