The King of Country; yes or no?
>>
Not my country, no
>>
>>131822593

"Country" in this case refers to a music genre, most commonly associated with the US, a country that deliberately does not have a monarchy.

It's all good though, I understand that not everyone here speaks fluent English.

Some of us on here care more about music being good, than whether or not it is created with Luddite Approved Tools (TM).

I'm not anti-AI especially if you get intentionally funny shit like what Guccimarx generates. AI is simply a tool but not all tools are used effectively especially when it the end result is banal tripe like whoever this fictional Country singer is. It's especially tragic when soulless slop crowds out compelling art composed/written and recorded by actual human beings.

So why the fuck are you here, in a thread about MUSIC, talking about AI?

Because OP posted an AI slop singer and calling it "The King of Country." Don't play dumb.

AI slop singers like Breaking Rust or Tyler Crowe technically fit the basic definition of music which is the organization of sounds, stops and silences, but the question is if the overall content is compelling as art. To me, it's banal, machine-generated tripe that strains to be impactful but sounds monotonous, but others see it as compelling. I suppose it can be in the right context, but it does nothing for me. It's especially bad when it crowds out human beings who composed and record their own music.

With Guccimarx, I think his stuff is hilarious because he writes his own bars and just generates the video portion with Dreamina and other similar tools. The intent is still human and the AI is just bringing his vision to life. AI generated novelty music requires a human being to have the situational awareness and knowledge write and compose lyrics adequately satirizing the subject in question. This is what separates him from other AI slop content:

Think I'm being arbitrary? Tell me why.

I am OP, and I am not playing dumb. On the other hand, you should stop spreading straight up lies; I never called Breaking Rust the King of Country; I asked whether the people of /mu/ would.

Entirely different things.

>AI slop singers like Breaking Rust or Tyler Crowe technically fit the basic definition of music which is the organization of sounds, stops and silences, but the question is if the overall content is compelling as art.

By this definition, a lot of music would only fit the "basic definition" of being music, yet in the case of artists like Breaking Rust you specifically choose to focus on the tech being used, whereas if "human" music is bad you would just call it bad. Why this distinction? Sounds to me like you hate AI more than you hate the music, and you justify it by calling AI music bad by default, with some cherrypicked exceptions of course.

>It's especially bad when it crowds out human beings who composed and record their own music.
Why is music created with AI crowding out human music worse than human music crowding out other human music?

Obviously people like this artist; you don't just rise from nowhere to 4 million+ views bangers on YouTube if no one likes what you're doing.

Forgive me for struggling to read your intentions. In any case, I doubt most people here would share that sentiment especially those who have witnessed centuries of human-written and composed music across centuries being challenged by machine-generated content. For casual consumers of music, AI slop is just more content, but perhaps overfamiliarity may one day breed contempt and fatigue.

When you flood the zone with AI slop, you're actively killing the very resource needed for it to generate content. Human-made music requires investments of time, labor, capital and mental energy to produce. Imagine what would happen if all we listened to was slop built on stuff made in the least 50 years or so. It would stagnate rapidly because there's only so much stuff you can train it on until you reach the point of exhaustion. Because streaming platforms distribute royalties from a shared pool based on market share, this massive volume of automated filler directly siphons baseline revenue away from independent human creators. When you dismantle the financial incentives for human musicianship, you dry up the very ecosystem that generative models rely on for training data, ultimately resulting in a stagnant, derivative culture.

Be smug and dismissive all you want, but the premise merits a conversation which is especially pertinent now. There will be copyright lawsuits coming fairly soon which could set precedents that change the course of music as we know it.
