Why would the best musician in a band ever elect to become the bass player?
>>
to let little brother George play guitar because he couldn't do anything else
>>
>>131827399
He played piano, guitar and sometimes even drums on the Beatles recordings alongside writing like half their catalogue so he was much more than just a bass player
>>
>>131827399
to focus on singing with his beautiful voice, his other instrument.
you try playing two instruments at the same time

I have no idea why 60s Niall Horan would settle for the bass. Did you know old /mu/ used to hate The Beatles? It's true, me and my boyfriend (we're both AIDS ridden faggots btw not sure it matters) had to desert this board because we couldn't handle the bullying we got for making threads about our favorite boyband

Two digit iq retard spotted! Go back to daycare!

His instrumental skills were pretty basic, most professional musicians can play a few instruments. He was still a composer first and foremost.
>>
>>131827495
Yeah! The Beatles strength was always I'm the writing and vocalisation
>>
>>131827504
Agreed. I'm gay

you've come out of the closet enough times on here now, we know you're a fag.
now be a brave boy and go do it in the real world. tell your mommy and daddy first
>>
He played the Mellotron

bass can sound really cool, i guess this is some kind of niche fetish content, but a good baseline is just as nice as a guitar riff or a keyboard melody or a drumbeat.
>>
>>131827399
A lead singer who plays bass has complete domination of the melody, the rhythm section and of the star power. Paul is a narcissist, and thus such position was irresistible
>>
>>131827607
Yeah Paul is bassed which is why he keeps cranking up the bass on every remastered Beatles album to the point where everyone else's instruments are indistinguishable.
>>
>>131827399
Most guitarists are god awful musicians so what difference does it make?
>>
>>131827607
this right here
>>
>>131827581
I'm pretty sure they've worked it out.
>>
>>131827600
>niche fetish content
what did he mean by this?
>>
Why do people have such negative views of people who play bass? Its just another instrument and its not like its hard to play regular guitar or whatever anyway
>>
>>131831724
>its not like its hard to play regular guitar or whatever anyway
agreed, and bass is significantly harder, specially at the level paul played while singing at the same time
>>
>>131831724
Bass is arguably the most important instrument because it serves as the intermediary between the drums and the melodic/harmonic elements. Plenty of bands have wank guitarists, singers or drummers (Metallica for example have all 3), but a band with a bad bassist has zero chance of success.
>>
>>131831724
Which one is more "difficult" entirely depends on the music being played. Bass just gets a bad rap because it has a low skill floor. lots of small time bands will just get the shitty guitar player to switch to it and only play roots and (maybe) fifths.
>>131831766
yep, many people severely underestimate how awkward it is to sing and play bass
>>
>>131830644
show me 3 examples of this.
>>
>>131832006
NTA but the Sgt Peppers remaster has substantially louder bass
>>
>>131832006
Abbey Road remaster
>>
>>131827399
Paul was the weakest or at least least likely to fight, so got stuck with least desirable instrument.
nice guys truly do finish last.

wow, you guys actually listen to this guy? i can see why old /mu/ was entirely against posting anything regarding 60s one direction.

t. Keyboard Warrior calling names from behind a screen. Get a life.

>>131827399
He just did whatever Adorno told him to do
>>
>>131827399
In a lot of bands the bass player is the main songwriter.
