Why was 80s hip hop forgotten compared to 90s hip hop?
Hip hop ages like milk. Even the 90s stuff has lost favor with today's audience.
80s hip-hop doesn't tend to touch on the topics and struggles that modern darkies experience
cuz old heads are almost on the same level as timmys in terms of corniness
>>131841036Has it? It's pretty much the go-to stereotype of HH in TV and movies because later forms of HH are not so appealing to use in media.
>>131841084^This. Rap in TV shows in the 21st century is always like boombox/turntable scratch/"Word to your mother" cliches like it's 1987 because like you said.
>>131841063Grandmaster Flash was the first to do it on a mainstream level, he used a disco beat to rap about brothas in the streets and crackheads
Because it wasn't as good.
It has nothing to do with the music "aging" because good music will sound good regardless. And it has nothing to do with modern struggles or whatever because the average black person is not perced out and killing opps.Black people just tend to have no real respect of appreciation for the generations prior, it's not just in music but look at the way nba and nfl fans wills quickly discredit older eras.. If it's not happening now then it lacks merit to them
>>131841079If you've been around Gen Z African Americans in the depths of the YouTube, Instagram and TikTok algorithm you'll realise that they aren't using the term Timmy. Constant "White people be like" and #thosepeople (meaning Whites not Jews unlike what /pol/ would say).
>>131842057wrong. sugarhill gang came first and anyway flash didnt rap he was just a dj. he didnt even have anything to do with his most famous track
>>131842382i challenge any 2026 rapper to do it as well as rakim in 1987https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TN-kDEKxF0
>>131841036because it wasn't that great and i heard it in the 80s. it really peaked from about '89 to about 97-98.
>>131845323JID, Kendrick Lamar and Doechii can do it.
It sounds corny.
>>131845455post a timestamped pic of your ancient withered hand
80s hip hop had a large crossover with early/radical electronic music, which has been expunged from history records because americans didn't like it. for various banal reasons i can't be bothered getting into.it's one of the most interesting periods in modern music, riot in lagos being a casework of musical cross-pollination
>>131847317>80s hip hop had a large crossover with early/radical electronic music, which has been expunged from history records because americans didn't like it. for various banal reasons i can't be bothered getting intodamn, we know Americans wanted Motorhead or Van Halen back then, not electro pop. we know.
>>131841079You’re pretending to be black on a dead forum out of resentment towards whites you are the definition of corny
>>131847337Motorhead was much more popular in the UK than the US in the 80s.
>>131841036>Why was 80s hip hop forgotten compared to 90s hip hop?cornylamewack
>>131847598Motorhead's most popular and world famous song exists because of an American fan.
>>131847317Acid is already awful and so proto-Acid was even worse
>>131845323>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TN-kDEKxF0settin' the bar there extra lowthis is a joke
>>131844794"timmy" is like "latinx" and "xer"/"xir": it didn't originate on 4chan at all, but it circulated on here heavily when exposing its original context to the rest of the site, and then started getting deployed ironically on a regular basis because it was effective at trolling with; so now it's 4chan lingo even if the rest of the world has forgotten about it
>>131842382this>>131842914"aging" means "aging poorly", which pre-90s hip-hop did
>>131841059>Even the 90s stuff has lost favor with today's audience.that has absolutely nothing to do with quality and instead with lack of canonization authorities keeping memories alivehttps://youtu.be/RBDv8poMookhttps://youtu.be/Aeo_V2DP5Ighttps://youtube.com/watch?v=iokLpnn3abghttps://youtu.be/L3rPeVvte0Uhttps://youtu.be/NbPTL98qmtQ
