Why have they been unable to produce any good music on their own or as a unit after making this album? It's not like they were a one hit wonder whose songs were written by a litany of producers nor had they relied on studio trickery to hide their lacking skills. They were playing superbly here, Mani in particular, so what happened? Did they just permanently fry their brains with all those first grade MI6 distributed pills from the late 80s?Even the Happy Mondays had a decent comeback since then.
wasn't the second album still good though?
>>131841998that album is nothing special
>>131842093nah that's you
>>131842024>though
>>131841998The Second Coming is unfairly maligned by britpop sissies who hate guitars
Only good song they ever made was Fools Gold.
Musically speaking the second album is just as good, Squire in particular really shines there
>>131841998Mani played bass on the two best Primal Scream albums (XTRMNTR and Vanishing Point). Other than that nothing but dogshit from them. Probably was the pills and buying into their own hype too much.
They didn't have Leckie as producer after the debut.
>>131842385Not in any way true btw
>>131841998Ian Brown made better music as a solo act than you would expect from a tone-deaf simian mong. He tried something different and hired interesting collaborators. The real disappointment was Squire, who retreated further into C-level Britpop blues wank that made up most of the Second Coming.
also they were tied up with the Silverstone lawsuit for a couple of years which killed all their momentum
you're now aware this also happened for some reason
>>131842782And then he proceeded to do it again, but being an even bigger dickhead in the process, with The Seahorses
>>131842465Ah yeah the Kevin Shields era of Primal Scram. That was quite the lineup
>>131841998If you treat this as a second album they did create other really good stuff. It's a shame this compilation isn't talked about more because it has a lot of their best stuff on it.
>>131842385dumbfuck. that's not even one of their best ones, and the fact that it's been a big inspiration for lots of indie bands in the 90s and early 2000s sucked. i must have heard that template get played on tv stations a zillion times growing up.
>>131844520this
>>131841998Their second album was better and Ian Brown's solo stuff isn't bad.
