Dance Gavin Dance
>>131852204>artworkweeb shit
Alta by far, and i like that particular Alexisonfire albumhttps://alta.bandcamp.com/album/placesacrobatic tenement is a brilliant album too
>>131852204>Is there a better Post-Hardcore band?freshman MCR but you already knew that
the first ep was really underrated
>>131853103Nah, not even close, they just don't have a song as good as Adelleda
this almost, but idk i might prefer alexisonfire still
>>131855428based. Pic rel for me>>131852204>>131852234Excellent choices>>131853103Child>>131853135Can’t confirm but will look into it
also this shit here nigga, and every thursday album too, just recently heard their last one and its really good.first coheed album also hits similar
>>131852204Brand New, Thursday and Thrice all mog. Alexisonfire's first three are all great though.
never see them get discussed here and i'm actually glad for that
>>131855685They're usually brought up in every post-hardcore or emo discussion though
>>131852204>>131852234>>131853103>>131853135>>131855428>>131855510>>131855613>>131855685All gay
>>131855809no u
>>131855641Alexisonfire mog Thrice I think, Thrice are really overrated, their good albums are all right but once they stop doing Hardcore they become utter shit.
>>131855809Post your top five>>131856252Nah. Alexisonfire haven't done anything really different their entire career as a band. Thrice haven't made the same album twice and you hear their influence in just about everyone. The genre could continue without Alexis but it couldn't without Thrice. I like Alexis but they're not pushing any boundaries.
>>131856252All Thrice albums are good to great, pleb.
>>131856607This nigga knows what's up
What seperates post-hardcore from emo, screamo, pop punk, or any of the dozen of other subgenres "post-hardcore" bands are described as?
>>131856822Emo is more melodic. Post-hardcore tends to be heavier. Screamo is a blending of the two. Pop punk is just catchy. It's all just different shades of music that's about wearing your heart on your sleeve though
>>131855428ok
Metalcore mogs post-hardcore
>>131852557upskirt creampies, panties pulled to the side in between classes
>>131856512>Alexisonfire haven't done anything really different their entire career as a bandNow, I'll agree that Thrice is far more of an influential band, but this seems just outright wrong to me, literally every Alexisonfire album is significantly different from the last, they are pretty close to Thrice in that regard.Albeit, the trajectory of Thrice is closer to something like Brand New, where they slowly went into a more Alt.Rock/Art.Rock direction, whatever you wanna call it.
>>131852204>all time great post hardcore band>break up so palumbo can make shitty disney channel dance rock
somehow it still never fails to me amaze me when I see a phc thread and the replies are all mallgoth garbagethis board is truly dead, all of you need to listen to more music
>>131862621Sorry did you want the obvious answers like Fugazi, Unwound and NoMeansNo?
>>131860539explain?
>>131852234reddit band name
From the modern Post-Hardcore bands, Thursday, La Dispute and Thrice stand on top of them all.
>>131864112Common Existence is pretty good
>>131862621no fun allowed!! you are an ADULT now, you have to listen to SERIOUS music!yes exactly, listen to some shotmaker, anomie, sweep the leg johnny, exactly, tell these fags about real musicgive me some three mile pilot, black eyes, speaking canaries..ugh, i listen to So Much Music :^)
>>131862610They didn't breakup howeverthoughbeit. They just take 15 years between albums and Palumbo has done a lot different stuff in between their breaks>>131862621By all means, tell us what you listen to since it's all supposedly superior
>>131862610I'm more pissed off that they released Coloring Book EP (the best thing they've ever done) and instead of building on it for a full LP, they made a mid hardcore album six years later.
>>131852204AOF mogs all
>>131864997They're good but the hyperbole about them in this thread is insane.
>>131852204a bunch of highschool kids recorded the #1 post-hardcore album of all timewhat did you do in high school?water wings if my favourite song from this album btw
>>131866729Thursday mogs
>>131866865I love Thursday, but I don't know, I feel like Alexisonfire songs have far more impact than most Thursday songs, Alexisonfire debut also has far more creative song-writting than anything Thursday ever wrote, they always stuck too much to Alt.Rock structures.
>>131867567you might like Kezia, it was also written by Ontario teenagers
>>131867567Have you listened to Thursday's complete discography because that couldn't be further from the truth. If anything, Thursday have gotten darker and more abrasive with each album. Ditching anything that resembles catchy choruses or structure. I'd say Alexisonfire is the band sticking to a formula and not doing much in terms of experimenting or going outside of their wheelhouse.
>>131867900Only realy applies to Common Existence. A City By The Light Divided and No Devolucion are very melodic and outright Alt.Rock.
>>131868306I don't think we're hearing the same records.
just listened to the 'new' mixing on this recently and I don't know how I feel about it, some songs like 44. Caliber Love Letter are much better but then they kind of ruined Pulmonary Archery. I need to give it another listen
>>131855685This! Although I like Manipulator more.
>>131869847i didn't know it was remastered. there's no info about it except on Discogs. looks like it was done in 2013.I have a 45RPM from 2014 that it says is original master. interesting
>>131870110yeah listening to it again and I don't think I like it, I wanna find the original
>>131856822Post-hardcore is the father genre of emo and screamo. It is music that takes hardcore punk as its foundation, but pushes it in a different direction. It technically doesn't have a specific sound, which is why post-hardcore bands can sound so radically different from each other. Early emo bands were mostly influenced by bands like Fugazi which essentially took hardcore but added more melody. It helps to think of it like this, all emo is post-hardcore, but not all post-hardcore is emo.Pop punk is just punk with catchy hooks and choruses and radio friendly production.
>>131864112>modernthose bands are over 20 years old unc
this album mogs everything on this threadhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hXpMGwbBGc
>>131870285I tried to listen to this once and it was lol so randumb cringe. I like the band name though
>>131852204*blocks your path*https://youtu.be/E8pMtwtyfG0
>>131870318What makes you say it's "lol so random"?
This was my fav band in Jr high. I remember trying to learn .44 Caliber Love Letter on an out of tune guitar. Still love their stuff.
>>131870285So much of this is just so poorly performed, always thought the performances were extremelly sloppy. It's a pretty good entry level Screamo album for what it is.
>>131852204The best Post-Hardcore bands are the ones who realized how high of a ceiling the genre had and took full of advantage of it, pic relatedhttps://youtu.be/LJv32qt7qQQ?si=no0zgE-srEjNPCFX
>>131852557>weeb shithow
>>131870088Manipulator is insanely good. However I prefer ItUE especially for the Choady cameo
