>OH MY SCIENCE! IF MY CALCULATIONS DON'T DECIEVE ME, COULD IT BE? GREAT SCOTT!!!! ITS THE MAIN THEME... UPSIDE DOWN!!!!
>>131883567Average Bach cultist
>>131883567how is your third attempt at kindergarten going? do you still eat crayons for lunch?
>>131883657Why don't you ask me how I feel about creating the next great /classical/ meme instead? Why do you have to be so negative all the time?
>>131883663why do you hook up with strangers on grindr to get your throat fucked every night?
>>131883670There's that negativity again.
>>131883567I look like this and say this
>>131883525>>131883542>Icarus (a tone poem by a contemporary female composer)You mean Lara Auerbach? I've posted it here many times! It's pretty good. Anyway, should be fun! Who's the conductor?

>>131883931>no melodies>no counterpoint >no beautiful moments>obscure instrument featuredYep its modernistslop
>>131884224It's a short, introductory tone poem, anon. It's fine if it's a bit more conceptual or singular in its focus. Here's an orchestral piece by another contemporary female composer,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqtYe_17YYoSee, everything you wanted.
>>131884278I was by no means saying all modernist music is bad, just that which is typical of the contemporary idiom. Also who cares if a piece is by a woman or not? Get this DEI nonsense off my /classical/.
>>131884278buy an ad faggot. women suck at everything and the only things they are good for are being fucked and caring for children.
>>131884321>Also who cares if a piece is by a woman or not?Sorry, I only mention it in case you were one of these types >>131884336
>>131884347I am. He is right. The only exceptional woman composer was Lili Boulanger.
>>131884361Florence Price? Emilie Mayer? Amy Beach? Sofia Gubaidulina? The list goes on...
>>131884278Also this was legitimately terrible. Its like a cutting room floor of themes left over from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. I don't even consider this classical.
>>131884388Well, thanks for giving it a try. That's all I can ask.Another piece by her,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw1hClYiYoY&list=OLAK5uy_l4iFNGOIasD9sJdGCzGkQ39zrsqhSZkAs&index=1
>>131884383All crap. Florence Price? You bought the kool-aid hard. I wish those people who found her manuscripts has been musically literate enough to burn them. You are clearly obsessed with playing ESG Pokémon and not the objective quality of music.
>>131884278>contemporary female composer
>>131884423haha :)
May I interest you in Biber's 1704 Missa Salisburgensis?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjJBWKPS4dE
>>131884535>fifty-three voices.a tad too much, innit?
To think music could have been saved if we had just adopted 13EDO instead of 12TET
>>131884585the quality of this thread could have been saved if your parents aborted you.
>>131884597Do you realize you sound like some Calvinist boomer on Facebook?
>>131884535Correcting myself, the 1704 is part of the ensemble name the mass has been created earlier around 1680.>>131884571It's called Colossal Baroque for a reason.
>>131884611you say that like it's a bad thing.

This, his best known symphonic statement, acknowledges a Sibelian inheritance through horn fanfares.
>>131884691oh, I'm sorry, anon. I didn't realise your parents just told you to get a job.
>>131883525>>131883931>You mean Lara Auerbach?Yep, that's the one. It was indeed pretty good; a nice appetizer. The conductor was Robin Davis. Thouroughly enjoyable concert overall. Wasn't familiar with the Schumann concerto beforehand, I'd give it a solid B. There were quite a few times where the solo cello was drowned out by the orchestra (inb4 Schumann orchestration lel). The Mahler was lots of fun. I'd forgotten how loud an orchestra can be, next time I'll get a seat at the back of the room.
>>131884796Oh, also Isserlis gave an encore that was entirely pizz, sounded almost as if he was playing guitar.
>>131884835I hate encores these days. Its usually some classical-adjacent (if even that) tripe that is 'personally meaningful' to the performer. You played the music now get off the stage!
I'm resigning myself to the fact I will never get, much less enjoy, Messiaen's Vingt regards sur l'Enfant Jésus or Catalogue d'oiseaux. At least not in the near future.
>>131884796Glad you had a good time! I would love to hear Mahler 1 in concert. And yeah, that Schumann Cello Concerto is nice but not top-tier like Dvorak's or Elgar's. I love the pairing of contemporary pieces with standard repertoire.
>>131884796So in concerts like this, does Isserlis (or whoever the soloist) join the orchestra in its performance of the symphony, or he just does the cello concerto (or whatever piece with his solo) then dips out, sits backstage, or joins the crowd for the show?
>>131884897>join the orchestra in its performance of the symphonyI'd imagine that would be beneath his dignity.
