The album format is incredibly stupid. You can't bombard me with another song immediately after I've barely finished listening to the last one. They took the wrong lesson from opera - in opera music is divided by dialogue which furthers the plot so you get some rest for your brain to digest the music. Albums should have something similar

Good point and good idea op
I assume live albums and spoken word invoke a similar effecte but may not exactly what you envision
>>
>>131886490
Because musicians are "to the point" (pretty timid and basic), and I don't want to listen to their speaking voice.

Albums have their purpose. They help me determine if an artist is a complete retard, if they are a genius, or a one trick pony.

Artists that are complete retards have albums that have no thematic continuity. One song sounds drastically, completely different.

Artists that are geniuses have albums you can play sequentially, and the album has music that makes sense thematically, and the music is good across the albuim.

One trick ponies just have one song on the album you want and the rest are shit.

I require catered meals in between each song or I refuse to listen.

but you would probably complain about albums with a lot of skits and interludes

autechre have evolved past the album format into a boundless megatrack
unfortunately, albumbrained retards in their fanbase still try to chop it up into smaller tracks with gay fake names

Yes anon, I too like skits on my album.
>>
>>131886490
so how do you listen to music normally? playlists would have the same issue. do you play a single then pause and reflect before playing the next? like what the fuck are you trying to say here
>>
>>131892294
nta but yes, or interweave songs from different artists
I've been starting to enjoy album listening more, recently, but at times it feels like 10 songs of the same/similar "type" or sound at once is too much - their uniqueness gets muddied down and it just becomes a bombardment of sorts. Sometimes I have to stop the playback after a song and rest.
>>
>>131895692
Yeah, I had that with The Stone Roses debut. It's okay but the songs are too similar to each other, only I Wanna Be Adored, Waterfall and I Am Resurrection stood out enough for me to actually be able to recall them after listening
>>
>>131886490
It's called playing it again and again and again.

Also old rap albums have skits.

does any album do this better than Doggystyle?
