I was reminded recently that pop stars don’t write their music. It’s fine in theory, like a cover, but imagine what a fraud you would feel like being praised as a great artist, or doing interviews about influences and artistic visions when you didn’t write the shit. She’s likable enough, but in terms of voice, singing ability, dancing skill, any other trained girl could have been Sabrina Carpenter. That unique sound, sassy lyrics, boundary pushing is the making of some corporate suit.
