50 YEARS OF HAKO: Part V: Grande FinaleBefore we noticed, over a year has passed since we started celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of Hako's first album, Tobimasu. It's time for the party to end so we can start getting ready for the 60th anniversary.Today we'll be listening to the 4th anniversary album released in the last year. The title is "1976 リリースライブ ~綱渡り" (1976 Release Live ~Tsunawatari). It's a live concert held in 1976 to promote the release of Hako's second album, Tsunawatari, which you probably already managed to comprehend from its title alone. The album was released on September 30, but I just got my copy the other day. Now, time for some music.Full playlist on the official Youtube channel:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nSO2rYZrho&list=OLAK5uy_kjojfCM72OxqNZtC3ZQe05PffvD-py5pEOther official means of listening to the album (Spotify etc.):https://lnk.to/1979_releaseTracklist in real letters:1. 子守歌 - Komori UtaAs you can see, we get to listen to live versions of Help Me and Tanjou Iwai for the first time.Kariboshikiri Uta is strange because it's an actual old folk song, not written and composed by Hako.I'll post more links for this album and previous albums a bit later.
The mini-poster included in the release was too big to scan it, but I took pictures so you can at least see what it looks like. This is side 1.

Even though this is the last anniversary thread, Pony Canyon has one more thing planned. On December 23 a vinyl-only album is to be released. The title is "1975-1976 LIVE BEST 飛綱" (Tobi Tsuna - first "letter" of Tobimasu followed by the first "letter" of Tsunawatari). But it's only a compilation of songs from the last two live albums, Debut Live and Release Live, so I'll refrain from making a thread. Plus, there aren't going to be many copies, so I don't know if I manage to get one. This is the cover. The Japanese really need to work on their naming sense.
Last time, I told you about this manga:"It was first released in 1970 by Kamimura Kazuo (art) and Aku Yuu (story). The title is 男と女の部屋 (Otoko to Onna no Heya - A Room of a Man and a Woman). No, it's not your imagination, you've heard this title before. In 1974 - a year before releasing her first album - Hako recorded four demos (that we know of), now available in deluxe editions of Tobimasu and Tsunawatari. One of those demos' title is Otoko to Onna no Heya. As it happens, it's one of those rare songs not written by Hako herself. The author is the writer of the manga, Aku Yuu.Aku Yuu died in 2007 and in the same year the manga was re-released. This time, with a bonus. Yes, the bonus is a CD with the song. That would be one of the reasons why I bought the manga. The second is, I reckon reading it will give the song additional context. And I'm quite sure Hako also read it, otherwise she wouldn't be able to sing the song convincingly. Is the manga good? Probably not. I don't think it was ever translated into any other language. I tried to look it up and it does exist in MyAnimeList's database at least. 62 users have it in their lists. Most as "plan to read", I bet.I'll share my impression when I'm done reading. In this thread if it lives long enough. If not, in 50 YEARS OF HAKO: Part V, in October."Well, it's October and we're in Part V. I read the manga and as expected it's barely okay. There are 10 chapters, each a separate story. The common theme is... prostitution. Maybe in 1970 it felt controversial, original or something, but by now stories about a prostitute running away with a client etc. are cliched and boring. The writing itself isn't anything to write home about either. Fortunately Aku Yuu only wrote 2 mangas and instead focused on writing songs (with successes, he created a lot of national hits). As for Kamimura's art, it was his first manga so his art is still unpolished here, but I'd call it "refreshingly amateurish".

>>131941743I don't think that's Hako. I can tell because she wouldn't wear such revealing clothes.
I just mentioned the manga related to Hako, I also previously mentioned an anime where she was a character, I probably mentioned the movie Hako made the song Orie no Uta for.One more thing to add to the list. Hako's song is in now in Ghost of Yotei as an intro song to a DLC story. The game may be a bit controversial but whatever its quality, someone on the team clearly has a good taste in music. The song is Nagare Yoi Uta from Hako's 4th album by the same title.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr-DzMtsQ6QAnd full song:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7pVWuAPRBc

I ended up preordering the upcoming release mentioned here: >>131941657I haven't started collecting vinyls yet, because buying them without even having a record player feels off. And I generally don't like preordering things. But this is fundamentally a collector's item and I wouldn't be surprised if they were all sold out before the release. According to the store, even if you preorder, it's not guaranteed that you'll get it. Pony Canyon probably hasn't decided yet how many they're going to produce.
And with this, I'll finally let you go back to touching yourselves in peace to your genetically modified Korean dancers for a bit.I'll be back in 4 years for 55 YEARS OF HAKO or maybe before that if something interesting happens.Stay strong in Hako!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNKwuwceXx8
