will emo / scene ever make a comeback?
>>131947075Came back in 2024, you missed it
>>131947325Every time i see this absolute sexmeat, I go from flaccid to cumming in under 60 seconds.
There are forces doing what they can to muffle the electric guitar
>>131947762not just the guitar, but melody in general.
>>131947075It's been nearly 20 years. If it did, it'll just be some modern day bastardization by zoomers who were too young to experience it.>>131947325Case in point
>>131949264zoomers were around for the tail end of this stuff you know, we're 30 now
I avoided listening to emo for so long because of images like that lol
If it did why would it want to anyway? It was the most "meh" genre ever!
>>131947075no it is a white subculture
>>131949453and im still avoiding listening to emo because of images like that, anon
>>131947075Sorry, but emo music sucks, and "scene" music is even worse. Hot girls, though. Goth also has hot girls, and much better music, but it's even older and more dead and just as butchered by retarded zoomers who don't know or care what it is that they're ruining (I say this as a zoomer)
>>131950175>butchered by retarded zoomersjust add the nu-prefix to the genre, and you should be good to go>nu-emo>nu-goth
>>131950205What's the point in making new goth or emo music nowadays though? It'll either be nostalgia bait aping the original respective genre or manifest as some barely-related brand new genre with little connection to the original. There's only so much you can do within the confines of a genre, and trying to revive it often just ends up creating a brand new genre that resembles its namesake in name only. For example I've seen people call Franz Ferdinand and some vaguely similar-sounding bands "Post-Punk revival" even though they really don't sound much like Joy Division or early Siouxsie at all. At that point why even bother with the name? I guess you could say the same for "Post-" genres in general but at least in that case the whole point is that they sound very different and are "progressing past" the style of the genre from which they emerged.
>>131947075Already has and still is. >>131949264The bastardization was in the early 2020s Covid era with "scenecore" there are people doing it properly now.>>131949323Not all of us were. Maybe you were but I missed the tail end by a millisecond. My teen and adult years have only been the SoundCloud era. Beginning to end. 2016 to now. If I was a couple of years older I would've been there. Fuck my life.>>131950175Millennials were ripping off old shit as well. It's not new. Gen X were doing that shit with the Post Punk revival as well. There are proper scene bands in our gen that aren't butchered you just aren't tapped in. For every Odetari or Syko doing fake scene EDM bullshit you have an I Promised The World. >>131950205Scene literally was Nu-Emo. Scenecore would be Nu-Nu Emo
>>131950651>he bastardization was in the early 2020sThe bastardization started in the 2000s actually Hot Topic became a cancer
Johnnie Guilbert is still flying the flag. He's quite cringe.
The real queen of /mu/
>>131950254nu-metal is distinct from metalidk if its possible with emo or gothi dont actually really care either>>131950651>Nu-Emonah, theres only been one (1) emo music scene so far, i'd think
>>131947075Hopefully not, it was the cringiest shit.
>>131947075Closest thing is that faggy emo rap shit, they stole the aesthetics of white rock genres and rap woe is me bullshit.
>>131950254Franz Ferdinand was getting labeled as "post-punk revival" because critics at the time felt as though they were aping Gang of Four. I'm not sure I fully agree with that, but there's your answer.
>>131951185>Franz Ferdinandhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Ferdinand_(band)wouldve also tipped on indie before other labelshonestly, i think it even deserves to be subdivided into "brit indie," what with franz ferdinand, arctic monkey, kaiser chiefs, the fratellis
>>131951185>>131951215dürrppp, forgot image
>>131950254Lighten up a little nigga. Why you care so much about nostalgia or whatever, as long as it sounds good
>>131951016Yeah I guess. I forgot. Scenecore is a bastardization of a bastardization. >>131951143>nah, theres only been one (1) emo music scene so far, i'd thinkIt depends on who you are talking to. I feel like the Rites Of Spring lineage is a completely separate thing to Scene Emo. Like we've ended up with different groups named Emo while being derived from similar music. Screamo bands weren't dressing up in Scene gear.
3rd wave emo is dead 5th wave is doing somewhat well
>>131947075No
>>131947075It's already back, and the kids have taste this time. I think a lot of Zers and millennials are sick of insincerity and coolness in music. Being consciously numb in art doesn't make sense in the current sociopolitical climate. A lot of the new stuff is mixed in with post-hardcore, slowcore, math and twee pop. No doubt a result of Numero Group's aggressive reissue and mythmaking campaigns (I'm not complaining).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dL7aesMex2Mhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSK1KbY8ZEohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43jKywmwfIIThink Cap'n Jazz, Braid, P.E.E., Jejune, Tiger Trap, and Hum when you hear these.
>>131951484oh and if you want emo that co-opts the 00's scene look, herehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI3_hZSXAcQ
>>131951276checkout gingerbee and the civil war in france for some examples of the more extreme end of 5th wave emo>>131951484good synopsis. all of the great emo songs were made already, anything coming out now that doesnt attempt to mix it up and dabble in other genres will be reheating the previous waves nachos
