I hope the Rhinemaidens get their gold back
>>132004377In Paradisum is beautiful
>>132004400damn Op. 49 is a masterpiece
>>132004377Confess your /classical/ sins. I'll start: I don't like Tchaikovsky 5 even though I think his 6 is one of the best symphonies ever. And I like his other ones, especially 2, but 5 and 6 are usually considered as his best.
>>132004700I hardly like any classical between bach and beethoven
I don't trust anyone who doesn't like Dvorak's late symphonies
>>132004700I would give up all classical just for Chopin alone. Same as Nietzsche.
>>132004700not a sin but its a hot opinion, I think that using a piano for baroque composers is a cardinal sin
>>132004831Harpsichord sounds like shit. Don't pretend it doesn't.
>>132004851Worst opinion ive heard on /classical/ if this isn't just straight up bait
>>132004866Not even close to the worst opinions ever posted here.

>>132004851Filtered.
>>132004939Yeah, I take that honor myself.
>>132004851I'm not a fan of piano either, although agreed on solo harpsichord pieces being exhausting. I happen to like sounds getting louder or quieter as the piece goes. I do like harpsichord parts in Bach's St Matthew Passion.
Shostakovich - Fugue in A major, what are your thoughts on it? I want to hear some serious, spicy comments as well. Two different interpretations:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe1vF0bgmb4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZwe0z8-fTU Personally I find it nice but sometimes outright painful to listen to due to absence of dissonance. It also lacks depth, but sure, it's emotionally powerful, even though that alone doesn't mean much.
Schoenberg couldn't in a million years
>>132004700Haydn, Mozart & co. (and even some Beethoven) make me zone out. I am sure it is the apex of cleverness and technical mastery, but it's just so limpidly bland. To be fair, I have heard very little pre-Romantic music, so this is likely my ignorance talking.
>>132004744>>132005896You're just classical-era skeptics. Classical period is not for everyone.Doesn't mean you shouldn't try some every now and then though, people can change and so can their musical taste. But I wouldn't force it, that'll only make you hate it.
>>132005581>I'm not a fan of piano eitherThe absolute state of this generalDo people like this actually exist?
>>132006012All kinds of people exist. And it's a good thing.
I don't listen to piano or harpsichord. I prefer organ for my keyboard works. https://youtu.be/tkXFVpErNEQ?si=SWS06DUde8iSQu1U
