Its their best one

Perfect example that music is highly contextual and never timeless. It was just released at the wrong time. During the death of indie when nobody wanted to hear this kinda crap anymore. I like it a lot.

monkey riches is fricking amazin
>>
It's a great album but there really is something about the mix that really didn't help it. The live performances from the era had some real great organic energy that doesn't come off so well in the album I think.

It's not too much of an issue for most of the songs since the songwriting is very strong anyways, but Monkey Riches, Father Time, Mercury Man and Pulleys end up falling slightly flat I feel. They're not bad songs, but by that point in the album you kind of wish they'd leave a bit of space in the arrangements I feel.

Really it just lacks a "No More Running" type of track to let the album breathe before Amanitas.

It isn't, but it's overhated.

This is the one I bought to give AC another chance when it was released. Hated it. I'm done after one track when I try to re-listen to it. My only 0.5 rating so far

>I'm done after one track
having this low of an attention span really isn't something you should brag about
>>
>>132015543
No point continuing to listen to trash. Nothing to do with attention.

Fine. I'm giving it another go, you bastard

One of the most inconsistent albums ever. Has some of their best, some OK stuff, and some of the worst songs I've ever heard from any band.

>>132015458
This is really not the album to judge from any one track, for the reason i mentioned above. For all its faults, it does have a diversity of sounds and styles.
>>
>>132020818
can you tell me which of the songs on the album are best/worst according to you? because I dont really see how its inconsistent in that way. most songs on the album range from OK to great to me and i dont see any great outliers into worst of the band territory.

Best is New Town Burnout, worst are Today's Supernatural and Monkey Riches. I think people excuse how shitty those songs are because it's Animal Collective.

Is everything alright?
You feeling moany?
You feeling lonely?
You're not the only

Is everything alright?
You feeling stormy?
You feeling phony?
You're not the only

What would I want? Sky

I feel the same way about Isn't It Now, the world moved on from AnCo but it's a great fucking album. They're no longer culturally relevant so nobody cares

Time Skiffs was better desu

how do we feel about Painting With 10 years later?

I've never been fond of the dry production, it sounds so sterile

Also when did they change the cover from Avey to Geologist? I swear it used to be Avey everywhere before.
>>
>>132023162
I already said I was gonna give it another go, and I did yesterday. I didn't find it obnoxious like previous times. There's still stuff that gives me the ick though.
>>
>>132023162
Reacting like that to one person's personal opinion and experience of an album is extremely silly
