When did you realize that jazz is the highest form of music and everything else is just inferior simpleton slop not worth your time
You mean classical
>>132029303Classical is nice but it's too structured and predictable. In jazz you have to be able to improvise and do so in a way appropriate for whatever mode, key or harmony is playing underneath. It's the highest form of musicanship to be able to improvise accurately over a highly complex musical context
>>132029318I like improv that bridges classical and jazz, personally
>>132029318jazz musicians mog in improvisation, classical composers mog in, well, composition.i think the latter is more difficult.
Get back to me when you can write an actual song. Nobody gives a fuck about your virtuosity. Music that is pure improvisation is just musical masturbation.
I could never listen to music created by a man who looks like he was grown in a CIA test tube
>>132029299Metal mogged it.
>>132029299>>132029392the highest form of music would be improvising a different 10/10 classical concert every night
>>132029544That's really fucking true
>>132029544Instant Composition
>>132029318>able to improviseThink about...
>bill evansThe list goes on...
>>132029499There's a time and place for everything, no arbitrary rules or puritan insecurities needed.>>132029526Your loss. His solo material is extraordinary. >>132029532Lmao>>132029544Music doesn't have form, hence why it isn't art.
Jazz is certainly the key to unlocking really beautiful, intuitive harmony in whatever sort of music you are making. After being a rock guitarist for 15 years I spent three months studying jazz and my skill with my instrument as well as songwriting ability progressed as much as they had in the previous 10 years.
>>132029318so you don't understand classical. why use so many words to say that.
>>132029318>highest form of musicianshipimprovisation can be fun when playing with other, and it's a writing tool and an element practice; but let's not exaggerate it's importance.
If your goal is to play music that isn't classical or jazz then I find jazz the superior foundation for learning music. Improvising is incredible for internalizing where every single note and interval is on your instrument and for being able to hear and construct harmonies. Classical gets you to the same place eventually but you can spend years just learning pieces without understanding how to apply that to your own music.
>>132029526you choose music based on the musicians' looks? guessing yo've never heard Boston.
>>132030977>playing with otherothers
>>132031057guy on the left looks awesome. never seen a head so perfectly circular.
>>132029299your kind is so gay
>>132029299You don't need more
>>132029299When I turned 30
jazz is certainly one of the best content troughs i've ever slopped at, seems there's no end to the associative game of who played with that drummer you liked and which pianist played with them and where'd they get their influences and so on.
>>132029299Probably when I was 15, which was 20 years ago. Albums like picrel helped seal the deal.
>>132029499Here's a jazz chart with albums best known for contributing original compositions. You're welcome.
>>132029532>pop music but with distorted guitars and guttural screams>on par with classical or jazz
>>132029318improvisation is retarded. composition is everything.
>>132032410your fomo is showing lmao
>>132029392Based.
>>132029392listen to this then, one of the coolest versions of rhapsody in blue i know ofhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkBPbaF7OLI
>>132029299jazz is ok, but most of the musicians make grunting noises when they play. try this on headphones or earbuds and you'll always look around thinking you're gonna be mugged.most jazz fusion is ok though because it's usually more electric.
>>132032615have you heard keith jarrett's grunts, he is by far the worst.
jazz is really bad. even the absolute peak of jazz, charles mingus, pales in comparison to middling classical composers.
>132032648>white and nerdy!
>>132032648>even the absolute peak of jazz, charles mingus
>>132032648love it when the most obvious of tourists act all high and mighty and pompous kek
>>132032409>thinking your meandering nonsense made by black junkies is superior to anything
>peak
>132032814>DUDE POWER CHORDS LMAO
>so insecure he can't reply directly I accept your concession
>>132029299Probably when I finally branched out of the cliche Miles/Evans/Trane paradigm and started checking out McCoy Tyner, Wayne Shorter. Bud Powell and Pharoah Sanders. Sun Ra too, probably.
>>132029299>>132031991Ya
>>132032706>>132032720>>132032813>seething jazzcucks think their druggie coon tunes can compete with classical
>>132032995love bill but most of this album sucks
>Look, mom! I'm a BIG kid now!
>dude noodling around while a drummer keeps time is actually better than Bach and Beethoven
>>132033100fepbp
>>132032397No.I'm not welcome. I wouldn't listen to a thing on that list. Jazz is not my bag.
>>132033134mindless automaton
>>132029299Improvised music isn't for autists with their one-track myopic minds, this is not the place to discuss jazz supremacy. Even discussing classical supremacy here can be dicey.
>anything i dont get is le noodle
>>132033068I love it
It's not though. Cannon in D
>>132029299I love jazz so much but if I'm honest I'm too white for most of it. My favourites are Bill Evans and Chet Baker and I almost exclusively listen to ballads>jazz is the highest form of musicThis is patently untrue. Although it is vastly superior to classicalThis is a good video on the topic>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY9tF5aXSXQ
>>132029318Do you think improvised compositions don't exist in classical or that classical musicians weren't traditionally trained to improvise? If a Jazz musician was asked to improvise a la Beethoven or Liszt he would fall apart.
>>132037218>This is patently untrue.nah. its pretty much on the nose.
>>132029499you are wrong>>132029532you are autistic, and I like metal
>>132037649If you stole the sheets in front of 99% of classical players they wouldn't be able to play anything.
>>132029299How did this McFly ass motherfucker go so hard?
>>132037218you remind me of me when i was 15
It's not a competition guys
