>Dubstep is bad
>Why?
>I...it just is ok?!
>>
>>132036993
It's derivative
>>
>>132036993
its garbage though. something sort of similar like Techno is a way better genre.
>>
>>132036993
only neckbeards say dubstep is bad, and neckbeards (pretend to) like dysphonic dross that's an assault upon the senses
>>
hardstyle is also shit
>>
>>132038951
hardstyle can be good, but it's inherently not as good as dubstep; yeah, it's a pretty obnoxiously repetitive and brash, simplistic genre

Techno is repetitive garbage

it's to techno what Creed was to grunge

To be fair it is pretty bad.

I had the (dis)pleasure of attending a dubstep festival on halloween with some friends. I've been to EDM shows in general before and I'm not opposed to several hours of dancing to repetitive music but jesus fuck this one was dismal. What am I supposed to be feeling when I listen to dubstep? It's too methodical and formulaic to be exciting or interesting. The "filthy drops bro" are just the same fucking distorted synth rhythm after the same fucking buildup over and over for hours. Like I know the people going to these things just go to do drugs and fuck in the porta john but can't the music be at least a little less horrific.

you either like the sound or you dont.
>>
>>132043618
That's the problem, I *do* like the sound. I just wish they'd do literally anything with it other than the same midtempo loops. Is there such a thing as "progressive dubstep" or at least dubstep that actually develops a sense of dynamic, a reoccurring motif, or at least some semblance of an actual composition and not just the impression of "the dubstep machine is functioning adequately for the duration" or is that completely antithetical to the subgenre?

Not music.

In all fairness I only bought a CD by Deadmau5 and Skrillex. (One with the cat on the cover and another with just the name)
I liked the Deadmau5 one more..
>>
>>132043684
since you went to a festival you probably had to listen to all these riddim tiktok artists
>>
>>132044103
I am 100% certain that whatever I heard was the lowest common denominator of normie wubwub slop, I want to hear whatever is actually doing something interesting with the sound but I don't know where to look.

I dunno if this is what you consider "interesting with the sound" but I would consider myself picky with dubstep and this is what I enjoy, although to be fair probably not all of it even classifies as dubstep
