How do I achieve that heavy downtuned chug? Is this amp just total shit?

With a 12" speaker. I know it's a little disheartening to hear it, but the amp is as important as the guitar. Save up some dough and get a used amp with a 12" speaker.
Alternatively, you could get an EQ pedal, but it won't have as much an effect as a bigger speaker.

googling it isn't that a keyboard/acoustic amp, probably designed to be as clean as possible?
it won't heavy chug unless you put something between the guitar and the amp like a pedal to distort the sound

Fuck, I think you're right. My older brother dumped this shit onto me so I honestly have no idea. All I can tell is that it sounds like faggy 70s guitars.

Buy a used Marshall/Peavey tube amp + 2x12/4x12 cabinet in your local music store/Guitar Center

Pick any guitar that has humbuckers

Go chug

Solid states are dogshit at anything and everything, they're a newbie sucker
>>
Don't know. But your guitar looks visually pleasing to me.

yea looking at the controls this amp is pretty much meant to take a sound like your raw guitar signal and make it louder as it is instead of distorting

Windstein from Crowbar has this trick with an HM-2 or MT-2 (I think it's the MT-2, whichever is the shittiest) with all knobs turned at noon before the amp's gain. Doesn't matter your guitar pickups or amp, doesn't matter the distortion pedal even, just a shitty high-gain turned at noon before the amp makes a good chugging tone.
It will also help that you change your guitar pickups to whatever has a high output, wether it's ceramic or alnico doesn't really matter that's just a detail but it counts so read a bit about it. Educating yourself is a great way to save money or at least spend it wisely.

Ahhhh and of course you're a total noob so let me enlighten you on something that will blow your mind down the line:

When you change your string gauge to something that accomodates your downtuning, use a tension calculator.
https://www.stringtensioncalculator.com/
The scale length of the guitar is important in choosing the right gauge (scale length is between the nut and the bridge).
Once it's determined, you will need to intonate each string which means it's in tune both on empty (zero fret) and at the 12th fret. So with a screwdriver you move the saddle of the string and play it at the zero and 12th fret until each one is in tune.
Takes a couple of hours but then it sounds literally perfect, otherwise you'll never feel like you enjoy what you play.

For a B-standard I use 60-12 gauge strings on a 25'5 scale. With your guitar I suggest you use 56-12. And you lower the gauge the less downtuned it is.
For E-standard on a 25'5 I'd use 46-10 but you'll use 42-9 on your SG.
etc. So now if you want a Db-dropped, try to find a middle-ground like a 52-10 or 52-9.

+ truss rod adjustement, forgor about that.
1) Change strings, tune them
2) Adjust truss rod
3) Intonate each string
4) Verify truss rod
= Neck must be straight or with a very slight inward bow.
Right = tight, left = loose
No need to turn more than a few millimeters

The classic suffocation albums were recorded with solid states though

This advice is 30 years out of date.
>>
To clear up the advice given:
-Amp doesn't have a distortion channel
-You need a distortion pedal to make the desired chugga sounds
-you do not need high output pickups as those are only useful if you're trying to drive a tube amp to chugga, which you don't have and don't need
-bigger amp speaker may help a little but that's mostly to get a fuller bassier chugga noise out of your distortion pedal
-you don't need a new amp, yet. try a distortion pedal first
-tuning down and setting up your guitar properly for the lower tuning with correct string gauge will improve chugga but you still need the pedal. This alone in to your keyboard amp without the pedal will not be chugga

Buy/borrow a distortion pedal. Don't spend money on anything else before that.
>>
Now, once you've got yourself a distortion pedal, you will need to learn how to palm mute. Palm muting is the foundation and bedrock of chugga.
>>
>>132042441
I think the k series Peaveys are keyboard amps so probably not. Get a Boss Katana or Orange Crush for chug
>>
>>132043064
i prefer the floor pod because it's more practical, but it's essentially the same thing. people talk shit about line 6, but the pod series was great. also the spider valve amp was amazing.
