What do actual metalheads, oldfags, /mu/ hipsters think of Slipknot? Zoomer dilettantes do not answer
>>132045949Slipknot? More like Shitknot.
>>132045949All except the drummer seem like total jerks.
>>132045949Only good nu metal band. But that ain't saying much...
First two albums are fine. Came out with a unique sound, then pushed it as far as they could. Nothing since has really been worth acknowledging.
>>132045949i guess im oldfag, mostly listen to jazz and psych rock, i honestly think slipknot is pretty great, especially the S/T, Iowa and Vol. 3
>>132045949More like slipnutz amirite my fellow oldfags
Couple of good singles, never got into their albums
The bot is still bumping those 20 day old threads.
>>132046535Based!Same opinion but I'm more into funk/soul/jazz fusion and post punkRap is convoluted post-fusion; post-african repetitions
I hate their music but I respect their importance in metal. They sound too much like dopey radio rock, and are a world away from the doom/black metal I prefer.
>>132046072Agreed, they were decent, I also liked Deftones, especially after they left nu-metal behind. But nu-metal is not metal and nu-metal dumbed down and simplified metal for the masses.
>>132045949They peaked with Wait & Bleed and Disasterpiece.
>>132045949Death metal is too heavy for me
>>132045949I saw them blow up as I got older and they were considered the "mainstream edgy" variety of heavy metal, but were borderline due to their lyrics.Overall, their first three albums (including Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.) were their best, and since then they've been hanging in relevance solely due to their image. They really softened their sound and lost what made them interesting after Iowa.
Cringe awful band
>>132047186Slipknot isn't death metal you retard.
>>132046750>nu-metal is not metalI'm surprised that nu-metal's ties to post-hardcore aren't more openly acknowledged when both Korn and Deftones were pretty obviously influenced by Helmet. Hell, even Linkin Park's paid their lip service to them, not to mention having Page feature on one of their albums.
