Do old musicians get tired of playing the same songs over and over?
>>132052633yeah they’re also touring until they die on stage because record labels only pay them through merch sales and shit like that
>>132052647My heart bleeds for the millionaires.
>>132052633that's why they do drugs, just to tolerate it
>>132052655I mean why would anyone want that kind of wealth when the lifestyle is garbage? They’re basically fucking stage props with less freedom than people like you and me in the grand scheme
>>132052633>>132052633Weed makes anything fun.
>>132052647record labels often have nothing to do with merch. that's all the artist. that's why merch is so heavily pushed, it's usually their main source of revenue because they aren't getting anything from album/music sales/streams
>>132052633Willie isn't Motley Crue, lol, he isn't limited to the same six songs every night
>>132052873He has an unbelievable amount of songs that no one wants to hear, yes.
Not anymore than you do posting shitty, pointless threads
>>132052633They can always become garbagemen, nobody's forcing them to perform music
>>132052883>He has an unbelievable amount of songs that no one wants to hear, yes.what songs are those?
>>132052919Has has over 2,200 songs in his discography, he's certainly not batting 100, there's gonna be some stinkers. If you're not obsessive Willie Nelson fan, there's no reason to be able to list all the bad songs, since they are inherently forgettable.
>>132052680wrestlers destroy their physical health during their performances and yet retirees like Ric Flair and Mick Foley still want to get back out there and do it again despite being set for the rest of their lives just because they love performing that much, feeling like it's their life's purposewouldn't be any different with musicians
>>132053002i doubt Paul McCartney would still be performing in his 80s if he didn't genuinely love being onstage. it's sure not because he needs the money.
>>132052633I pray Willie Nelson goes to hell and takes Bob Dylan with him
>>132052633You just have to say "at least I'm not flipping burgers" 17 times before walking on stage.
>>132052633the reefer he smokes ain't cheapyou think he could go to a second hand shop and get a better guitarhe's too old to pimp his ass outkeeps playing those crappy old songsit keeps him off Obama SNAPS
>>132053408>I pray Willie Nelson goes to hellimagine being this dead inside...
>>132052633they do when they are still in their primes. when they get old, they are in effect a tribute band. it's a job.
>>132053853imagine being this new
>>132053996imagine being this retarded
>>132052883A hundred million sold albums disagree
Iggy Pop and Chubby Checker are still touring and are both still over
Willie wrote a whole song about it: https://youtu.be/aR-J0RuCOHw
>>132052633No. Each time is as fresh as it ever was
>>132052633He's opened every show for the last 50yrs with the same song....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPkEmBCZTlA
>>132054107>Chubby CheckerNo way
>>132054571never could get much into his music. I like the idea of willie nelson much more than the actual music. he's kind of like the guitar bob dylan. can't hit a note square, playing sounds incredibly unnatural and weird
>>131784668we broke the bot. apparently by maxing out two of its threads to 150 images it stopped being able to bump the others and they fell off the board.
>>132052633Yes. You get tired of them in the recording process. Then when you tour it's fun again for a while, but 50 years of playing the same simple songs, i don't even know.
>>132054692I'd have thought we'd have to do that for all 18 threads but apparently 1-2 was enough to kill it.
>>132054747anyway, vampire's been staked. thank me for finally freeing /mu/ of those cancerous threads.
>>132054649He was notable when he first started getting known as a songwriter for using blues or jazz styles in country. Patsy Cline declined Crazy the first time because she'd heard his earlier stuff and thought it wasn't country enough. I had the same problem as you when i first started listening to him as an adult, give these two albums a try: shotgun willie and The Willie way. They're both from the early 70s when he had finally broken free of Epic's control and was able to do something other than just endless variations of the 3-minute country pop hit. They're much more conventional Honky Tonk rather than the more folky stuff he's better known for.
>>132054692noted
>>132054828Willie was really always a would-be crooner, his childhood heroes were people like Crosby and Calloway.
Tiny Tim was asked once if he ever got tired of playing "Tip-Toe Through the Tulips."He replied, "Every time I sing that song, people smile. Who could get tired of that?"
>>132053002>>132053017Yes but there are drfinitely bands that would quit yesterday if they didn't need money.Slipknot is 100% only still a thing because Clown is still in debt. Corey Taylor probanly too. Also a lot of celebrities might seem like they are set for life and even should be on paper, but they were the wrong type of person to set foot in a casino and now they'll never be off the hook. I suspect Lemmy was one of those people, even if he was genuinely 'bout doing motorhead.
>>132052633Believe it or not there are people who love to do what they do for a living.Besides, what the fuck is Willie Nelson going to do if not play and write music? Carpentry?
https://youtu.be/C6blOZQw3cwA lot of it is fan service. Billy Joel hates Piano Man... I don't feel sorry for him
>>132055430he doesn't like it because CBS forced this slick AC production on the album and didn't let him use his road band
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmOkTAxRRwwSomehow she must have not gotten tired of that damn song.
