How is this guy alive? First one or two videos I watched, I thought he was just going for (You)s but they just get worse and worse. The only way this makes sense is if he has terminal cancer and he wants to die riding a bike and not in a hospital bed.
>>
Descending is a skill, it's something you get better at with practice like anything else. Most of Safa's videos aren't that crazy when you look at the speed overlay and realize that he has a better view of the road ahead than the camera does and he's also doing repeat runs to know the route well. I've ridden most of the roads he's filmed in SoCal and while he's pinning the descents he's not doing anything reckless. What's most impressive is how much speed he holds through the flatter sections - dude is aero.

The alta california stuff is tame, but the cdmx stuff gives me the willies

It is the only way to enter Velohalla

his descending videos are nothing go watch the no brakes fixie messenger stuff from Mexico if you want to see real danger kek here check this https://youtu.be/p0mE2b5zu48?si=2ZjB0tobfvSS_Yrf

That looks the same except slower
>>
>>2036202
He and his crew do take some precautions - they'll scout the route, on narrow roads they'll send a car down the descent ahead of them to clear and radio back if anything is coming up, they'll do the runs in the early mornings or at dusk when the descents are less busy (and also have the best lighting). Plus a bunch of other stuff.

Still dangerous, though. But they're sweet fucking videos and he seems like a really down to Earth guy who just loves riding bikes.

Unlimited espresso at the cycle cafe for the raceists, unlimited IPA at the cycle bar for the unracers. All the road lights are green, there's no cars but there's still a bike lane for the slows. Flats self heal and the chains are permanently lubricated. It's always a tailwind in every direction (or a headwind if you're into that) and it's always downhill (or uphill if you're into bdsm).

>not doing anything reckless.
>almost kills old women on dirt hiking path on his gravel bike for stravacirclejerking
>flies by baby in a stroller at 45mph on a bike path with about 6 inches of clearance

guy is a fucking retard

The vids I’ve seen are cool even if it isn’t the craziest shit he does. What you describe if true is inexcusable and just being a pure dumbass douchebag

Have you heard him speak? He's clearly a 90 iq retard and has nothing else to live for

He just sounds like someone who fried his dopamine receptors to me

Go enjoy your life as much as he's enjoying his, genius. Then come back and comment again.

When I'm descending and I'm grabbing the brakes like a pussy I unironically tell myself "don't you want to be like safa" and I let go of the brakes and try to let the yolo wash over me

it's really hard to reconcile the urge to not die with the urge to truly live

This is similar to Iron Vallhalla where lifting pros go when they die.

im not sure if this is the type of descending you guys talk about but i live on top of a massive hill (pic related, 400 foot drop) and every morning i hit between 30-35 mph coasting down it. its straight and i have the shoulder bike lane to go down, but every now and then i think about how if something failed on the bike going down, or something is in the street that i dont see, or an animal jumps in front of me, im probably dying.
>>
>>2042004
Im descending down steep 400ft ish descents but the roads are windy, narrow, and 0 visibility. (Rural uk) Sometimes barely one lane. ill only send these at night because, ill be able to see headlights coming a lot sooner. I probably go about 35-40 down them in the day (retarded idea) but if i know there’s no traffic or i just kinda wanna die that day i sprint like fuck and hit 60 on the straighter sections, can hold decent speed through the corners it im using the whole road but sticking to one lane really robs speed

this guy is the biggest douchebag in la
his last vid is him literally sucking the wheel of some guy in a podunk MTB race for literally 3 hours then outsprinting him in the end
he'd be 45 min back if it wasnt for the guy guiding him through the course
he always has these bitchy shithead comments about other people in the vids too, like throwing some shade on some dude that is ahead of him just having a good time and not taking this little podunk race 'serious' like him
there was another where he guilt tripped the fuck out of his friend for not pulling on a climb for his gay strava segment even though his friend had covid lol
what a fucking DOUCHE

on a bike your life is forfeit.

suppose we are farely casual, I've a 7 % grade hill among my commute.
along the way are some corners, depending on the bike in use it can get a little hard to corner at around 50 kph ish, (caster and gyroscopics)
mostly what I find is little piles of gravel accumulate on the inside of corners, and random plants fall down from the cutting.
this makes around 2 to 3 foot of the road width unusable, and after a few near misses of storm drains I find it better to take a lane.
sometimes I've had cars reversing out of driveways, but fortunately they paused to look about.
also cars dip below 50 kph on the corners, so its a little too easy to catch up with them.

>something failed on the bike going down
tire puncture, weirdly unremarkable, helps allot that I was on a strait.
shoe lace caught in pedal axle, lol three crank revolutions is how much time one has to notice this, its not killed me yet lol. (get better footwear)
chain drop, this could absolutely obliterate if it manages to jam between the frame and sprocket.
>something is in the street that i dont see, or an animal jumps in front of me, I'm probably dying.
yea, rip. my experience with this is failing to react quickly and smoothly, then losing stability and traction then veering off in a random direction.
