Living as I do in a culturally enriched town, I've had to put together a bike that's comfortable, reliable and visually repellant, for those occasions when I know I'm going to be leaving it unattended.

I have nicer bikes for recreational riding. More than once while locking it up it received snarky sideways glances from bike snobs, only for their cut lock to be laying on the floor when I return. Always good for a chuckle.
>>
>>2053892
I love it, the MX bar is a nice touch. I'd steal it.
>>
>>2053888
wth is that frame is it from an ebike or summin? also nice umaru sticker

would it have killed you to follow the pybt format?

extremely based. is this the final form or do you have any more plans for it? favorite bike on /n/ and genius idea
>>

I plan my rides with this:

Choose the "visible minority" option.

Hey, I have that same shitbike!
It's the Mongoose Transport, a full-size bike that folds in half.
And it's been a pretty good, durable bike I've owned for a long time, although I don't ride much.
>>
>>2053888
What's that blue fender on the front? Looks cool.
>>2053892
Now THIS is a shit bike. Looks fuckin' sick.

But most of the effort is wasted, you could have just bolted on the v-brakes and left it at that.

Are 26'ers the go to shitbike?
>>
>>2054223
Yes, and here's why.
>Most BSO tier cheapo bikes are 26ers
>Some of the best made frames from the 80s and 90s were 26ers, but to the untrained eye they are indistinguishable from BSO's
>Wheels etc are readily available and cheap

Most pro bike thieves dismiss 26ers almost out of hand, unless of course they spot a name they recognize or perhaps older rare parts that they know can sell for big money, but generally they're looking for new easy to sell bikes, and that tends to be 29ers and 700c.

You can build up a really nice practical and comfortable 26er for not a lot of money that will be instantly filtered out by most bike thieves.
>>
>>2053894
Weird how so many people think it either is or was electric. It just folds in half.
>>2053969
Huh, never heard of the Mongoose version before. Another frame to look out for.
>>2053969
It folds too! With the wheel off, you can slide it into itself and put flat against the fork, so you don't have to carry it separately. You can still find them on aliexpress if you search for folding fender, it's the rear one from the set. Without a bottom tube you kinda need a full-size front fender, otherwise you get wet up to your knees from every puddle.
If I need to take the rear wheel off too, I unclip these SKS fittngs and curl it up, with frame folded fully it won't uncurl into the top tube.
>>
>>2053892
has happened to me aswell, I left mine unlocked and came back to this guy pissed his ebike was nabbed lmao
>>

Do you live in Fallout 3?

Try to restore my friend's shitbike which is a 26" high tensile steel road bike from the 1970s. He's not willing to pay much for it but I've spent quite some dosh on it. Should I just keep it?
>>
>>2054289
donate it to the homeless
>>
>>2054289
26" roadie? is it juvenile sized?
>>
>>2054295
they'll just sell it for crack

>>2054312
it came with 26" wheels. Surely a 700c fits right?

I reckon I've put around ~700 miles on this thing so far this year. I got it at a garage sale for free. I had the rear wheel bearing completely fail about 100 miles ago but I got it fixed for about $15 using eBay parts. I take it on mountain bike trails all the time. I love it!

Expensive bikes are CRINGE!
>>
>>2054331
where are your rear brakes?
>>2054328
No. 26" as in ISO590? Or 26" as in ISO 559? 26" ISO 590 is belivable and those MIGHT fit. Maybe.
>>
>>2054342

I just deleted them because the rear wheel was wobbling and hitting the pads. I ended up getting the wheel trued for $15 but I threw away the brake parts. It stops okay with just front brakes

Me after completing a 130km ride recently

Found the frame in the bush, put other parts from another salvaged bike (had a problem with pedals, they didn't stay at 180° but one pedal wobbled from 150 to 180°, I replaced the parts and the problem reoccured and I didn't bother figuring it out since it's actually a pain in the ass to repair 40 year old shit)

Now my bike is a single speed (alright for my flat city) and I found another rusty abandoned bike from the 90s. It has a 7 speed hub gear (sachs super 7) and I will put those wheels with hub gear on my bike once the new tires arrive

The 130km ride was pretty hilly and was annoying with a single speed so I want some speeds

My friend who owns a 1500€ bike who I met at the end of my ride was like: "YOU RODE WITH THAT!?!?!? O.o"

Yeah bitch I also don't wear skinny bike clothes like a faggot

I've clocked about 205 miles in this shitbike so far which is more mileage than this cheap ass walmart cruiser has any right to be put through, and yes its a 26er but it has some really fat tires

it's pretty cool. what's with the second homemade brake bridge?
>>
>>2054812
I got the bike in a flea market, it came with one of those flimsy rear racks
It kept getting unscrewed so I ditched it for the one you see on the front, the bridge is was there to as a way to attach the rack to the bike, desu I forgot about it

>in a culturally enriched town,
I get your casual racism and rage at ruined social capital + low trust + enshittified civilization
I am somewhat racist and intolerant myself
However it is more correct to say "poverty ridden" town than"culturally enriched"
I am not sayin this because I think the problem is entirely economic either, while being a fatherless poorly socialized brown "person" is still tragic they are responsible for their antisocial behavior first before trying to blame everything on whitey
george floyd shouldn't have died like that, yes - but he was still a fucking asshole
Don't allow that prediliction of yours to ve abused to turn attention away from the oligarch ghouls wrecking our society though
I am not saying this because I'm trying to browbeat you but because it's just important if we ever actually want things to get better for us and society - society and us

no clue i just got this from a relative this year
brakes were pretty loose so i tightened them up, and the front gear switches from 2nd to 3rd on its own like the cable is pulling on it to change or something
i also cant seem to change the seat height at all, its completelly stuck
Seems like it could have been pretty decent when it was new though

This is the minimum amount of crust that you need to have for a bike to be a 'shitbike'
>>
>>2055218
At least you got a free coat hook on the fork.
>>
My shartmart agressive geometry mountain bike shaped object winter project. It's got an Aliexpress fork on it, stiffer rear spring and $40 Aliexpress 4 piston brakes that I haven't mounted yet. Ignore the cable shitters on it now. It's got like a 64 degree head tube now with the 130mm fork. It has a high bottom bracket too which will help when I mid drive convert it. It's got a steel rear triangle but the heavy fork actually makes it balanced somehow.
>>
>>2055399
Also, I wrapped the frame with Aliexpress cammo wrap because the shit pait faded in the sun. I'll probably just paint it so I can check for frame cracks and shit.
>>
>>2055312
yeah, what the hell is that thing anyway?

Specialized Hardrock made with whatever parts I could salvage from my pile of scrap bikes.
Wally-World bike pogo stick fork, the only front brake assembly I could find that wasn't completely seized, ancient thumb shifter, busted rack held together with zipties, cranks with very worn chainrings (no front derailleur, I just keep it in the low gear anyways,) clapped-out seat on with a tube that's too small so I have it duct taped to the frame so it only spins a bit. And a milk crate.
I call it the Crackrock.
It's like the bike equivalent of a farm truck. I ride it maybe a thousand feet to grab mail or whatever, and when I'm not using it it just sits outside against the steps.
>>
>>2055399
Based suicidal budget downhiller.
>>
>>2055490
I would always call these and the rockhopper, hardcock, and cockhopper, respectively. Would always make me chuckle to myself
>>
>>2055420
It's there to catch the straddle cable in case the brake cable snaps. Otherwise it would catch on the knobs of the tire and lock up the front wheel.
>>
>>2055514
makes sense.
I've never seen one before. and I've seen a ton of canti bikes. I guess they just never caught on.
