What would you do in this situation?
>>
"may I recline my chair"
"[smug] no, gaijin"
"alright" *reclines anyway*
*seethes impotently on twitter*
>>
Tell the incel in the back that reclining is the exclusive right of the passenger in front of you, universally. if he doesn't like it, he can feel free to jump in front of a train and kill himself.
>>
Earlier trains -- pre N700 -- had tables recessed into seat backs. If someone did a sudden recline and there was a laptop on the table behind then the recess could catch the top of the screen and... toast. The N700 and later have (mostly) flat seat backs (and (as can be seen in OP pic) the table latch is in a beveled recess) so that sudden reclines should push laptop screens out of the way without destructively trapping them in the table recess. Evolution x intelligent design. Side effects small but still turdy behaviour.
>>
>>2062901
If that train has a similar seat clearance as an airplane, I would politely tell the guy in front that there's not a jam in the seat mechanism keeping him from reclining, and please stop trying to break my knees. One of the downsides of being tall they don't tell you about
>>
>>2062901
fly because shinkansen seats (tokaido at least) are awful. give me my amfleets please
>>
>>2062901
turn 360 degrees
walk away
get in the car
everybody walk the dinosaur
>>
>tryna put my head down on the folding table and zzz
>fat bitch in front of me is fully reclined which would be fine if she would SIT THE FUCK STILL and stop bouncing around literally sitting up and slamming her weight down every two minutes, passengers either side of her also looking at her wondering what the fuck she’s doing taking up one and a half seats and twitching like a downie
Probably had McDonalds related back pain
>>
>>2062901
i'd have been passed out for hours by then and being much ruder by snoring and farting after too many drinks in the VIP lounges
>>
>the shame of being reclined on
Why don't their seats have slots for committing sudoku?

The seats are possessed by demons

If reclining the seat without asking is such a taboo in Japan, why aren't there any signs warning against it?
>>
>>2063108
Because some things are common courtesy. If you do something that negatively affects others, you at least ask them about it.
Needing a warning sign for every little thing is retarded.
>>
>>2063113
It seems pretty necessary in this case because asking before you recline your seat is simply not part of global train etiquette.
>>
>>2063116
Maybe learn what the local train etiquette is before traveling. Being stupid and rude are not good defenses in life.
>>
>>2063117
I believe warning signs would be much more effective than counting on the goodwill of tourists who are already violating Japanese norms, but you do you.
>>
>>2063118
>Already established norm that you should not recline your seat on an airline without asking.
>Hurf durf I am a dumb gaijin pig that does whatever he wants.
>>
>>2063119
That appears to be the situation, yes. The Japanese can either tackle the issue by making it an official rule or they can just keep making impotent seetheposts on twitter.

If shitting in public is such a taboo in (every country except India), why aren't there any signs warning against it?

This is the way

>>2063119
The norm is that the you are entitled to adjust your seat as you see fit, provided you don't unduly prevent the normal use of the tray table with unnecessary shaking. Reclining is an intended feature of seats on aeroplanes and apparently these trains, so expecting it not to be used is unreasonable.

You could posted

and saved yourself the time.

Japan is among the most xenophobic and racist countries out there. Of course when you travel abroad you should do your best to fit in and be polite, but also the japanese will still hate on you for absolutely no reason. Japan as a country and a society is so bad they really don't have any lesson to give me.
>>
>>2063064
maybe he's talking about how some people recline so violently that they nearly break the seat
>>
>>2063231
Cheese gyudon is the best product that Sukiya offers. Funny that it got adopted as a slur by fags that couldn't comprehend anything except their boring ass beef on rice.

Japan is the most autistic country out there more like, their entire culture is centered around catering to people on the spectrum by making it acceptable to be antisocial weirdos, it's no wonder so many aspies want to visit
>>
>>2063360
Agreed tbdesu. Cheesy beef on rice is a god-tier combination no matter how you slice it.

I don't want to hear that from Asia's Bogdanoff

>You can live without a trash can on the street corner
...does Japan not have public trash cans or waste bins?
>>
>>2063425
there's like one per district

japs are super weird about trash, you have to sort it meticulously yourself into transparent bags and sign them to be disposed of, otherwise they won't be taken away on specifc days for each type from the dump too and doing that wrong can result in fines.

that's one reason why some people have bags of trash all around their house and it's a common depiction in the media/anime.
