It's either a container ship or a tanker, both named as blandly as possible.
>>2077198The word "Schooner" comes from old American colonial Scots which in and of itself was just a rendering of the Dutch word for "Skipper" or Captain, which is ultimately derived from the Dutch word Scip for "Ship"The word "Galleon" just comes from the Medieval Greek term galea, which was the smallest ship in the Byzantine Navy and probably just comes from their name for a breed of shark. It's basically the equivalent of a modern warship being named a "Destroyer" The point I'm trying to make is that these words are only charming in retrospect, their charm comes from centuries of art, history, and literature surrounding these names. In their original context, they were just as boring as "Container Ship" or "Tanker". And someday even the term "tanker" might become romanticized itself and we'll start all over again.
