I would get those just to trigger zoomers and then type with

Spacing.

And full punctuation and capitalization, too!

Report because I'm blind
Are there some actually decent brands of bags/sacks for the trekking bike? I'm thinking of getting a casual side sacks for the rear for groceries while leaving top of the trunk free for attach whatever I end up needing to transport and attach with those rubber straps(I got the TUBUS brand, seems pretty solid).
Generally I want it for commuting, grocery runs and weekend trekking. Thievery seems to not be so rampart over here(people are locking their e-bikes with cable locks ffs), but I'm going to be fairly paranoid anyway, so I doubt I will be leaving it by the gym for over a hour or so(which is shame, because parking is sometimes an issue)
>>
>>2077512
Tubus is pretty much always sold in lockstep with Ortlieb, did you miss that detail when you got your rack or is there a reason you don't like Ortlieb?

I used to work in a bikeshop that sold that model, (2021) modelyear, shimano altus group with tektro brakes, it's alright, but a bit on the heavy end, especially on the front, (suntour fork) but it rides nicely for the short testrides i took i it, there's just better MTB's to get, and i havent ridden many i'm in Belgium, not a lot of MTB culture here
>>
>>2077513
The rear rack is some MonkeyLoad thing. I just bought straps alone when ordering the bike.

This is really fucking stupid, but I need to ask.

Started riding my road bike for work commutes recently. Haven't really cycled in the past 4 years, but it's gotten really fucking uncomfortable. It feels like the seat is digging into my bones now and it's not like my weight has changed significantly over the years, my ass is arguably bigger now due to more glute focused gym work.

I used to be able to ride on it for hours without issue, but now a 30 minute cycle painful. I don't think my riding ergonomics have changed that much, so I suppose it's the seat, but I have no idea how/why it's gotten so hard over the years.

Is this a sign I should just get a new seat?
>>
>>2077512
keep an eye on what silk road bikes are using.
aeroe makes nice things for example. a lot of people seem to favor custom bags but I don't know anything about that.
>>
>>2077621
give yourself a while to re-adapt. saddles are comfortable when your core is strong, your balance and flexibility are excellent, and you are putting down smooth power. if your commute involves a lot of starts/stops and lower power output to avoid sweating, a more relaxed riding position might help. If you've been comfortable on that saddle before you probably should stick with it or find something similar. these things aren't chairs; they work differently when you're trying to sit on them rather than using them as a balance point to control pedaling and maneuvering forces.
>>
>>2077625
Thanks for the reassurance. I'll just stick with it for the time being in that case.

It's getting too warm for a coat. I still need good pockets that neither interfere with my hips, are undue weight on my legs, nor explode everything out of them as I pedal no matter where they are. Would it be cringe to wear my shitty fishing vest to bike about? I normally carry a lot of shit.
>>
>>2077633
>Would it be cringe to wear my shitty fishing vest to bike about
Just fucking wear it you twit. Worrying about being cringe is the cringiest thing possible.
>>
>>2077635
i was trying to be provocative but in actual honesty what is the best way to carry shit on your person

i could just wear myt shitty fishing vest but i already have a lil' roll-up tool pouch and it is inconvenient wherever i put it. not even memeing but i dont even mind the weight of a full fursuit -- i am not a fursuiter, but have had to do mascot shit and it's fine. but as much as i like having All My Stuff All The Time it's always a little annoying to make space for it "properly". what is the real Properly that doesnt need snarl quotes to carry tools and some ancilliary gear (i unironically stopped carrying my memefeng radio because it was fucking annoying and kept getting caught on shit)
>>
I have an ebike i sometimes pedal, but there's also a 2stroke engine on it. i hated the frame when i got it, and only hate it now because I don't have the tools to fit random tubes and pipes to it to accommodate more accessories and support structure. it's a piece of shit with three independent drivetrains so where do i poast about it
>>
>>2077633
If it has to stay on your person then maybe a fanny pack. Or a backpack. Then there are bags that attach to various points on the bike. There are easy-disconnect bags for the handlebars that become satchels you walk around with.

Or if you're like me and haul gear and groceries, install a rack and get pannier bags.
>>
>>2077638
I have a shitty backpack I don't like. I have a lot of cotton webbing and tried to rig a duty belt; didn't like that either. Stuff slips around, no matter how tight you cinch it. My usual thing is a messenger bag, and stuff fits, but it takes up more space than I'd like in what should be spare storage.

>panniers
I'll admit I've been lazy and have some modern plastic .50 ammo cans I've been meaning to mount, but I still prefer to have stuff like tools on my person because it's too easy to either not bike for a day but still need a wrench, or bike in and not be wearing the usual bag because it's too big or too small. And then I'm missing something as simple as a wrench. And you just know the one day you need it, you don't have it.

Why is the saddle that high? Is it a meme? I can't believe someone could ride with their head below their ass, yet every ad I see shows this.
>>
>>2077653
maybe they tried to show how far the seatpost extends. Considering the stem length and amount of spacers this geometry makes no sense unless you're gondola.
>>
>>2077636
I use a fishing vest for bikepacking and during colder rides. Fanny packs are good too. Consider also getting a removable handlebar bag if you don't like have it on your person while you ride.

your soft tissue has gotten re-sensitized while you were off the bike. this much is true. just gotta tough it out for a month or whatever and it'll desensitize again.
your saddle may need adjustment.
saddle height is the most significant key to overall fit. also, is it level? does the nose stick up or down more than the rear? how forward or aft in the clamp it is can be a factor but usually that's the last position I dial in since it's the least significant ime.
a different saddle could help. or hurt. sounds like you were ok with it before so maybe you will be again. the width compared with your sitbone width is the most significant factor, which is also dependent on your riding stance. this chart corresponds to this particular mfr. but you get the overall idea.
the real answer is you just have to try a bunch of saddles, unfortunately.

>>2077623
not him but good idea.

from the way you posted I thought "Silk" was a roadbike brand, but I figured it out. found this

seems like Apidura and Tailfin come up a lot. lots of custom. I'm sure all their choices must be really expensive, I saw a guy said Ortlieb but that's also $.

the winning move it to keep cargo on the bike not your body. even if the weight doesn't bother you, the cargo next to your body makes you sweat there and retains heat instead of getting airflow.

I like a handlebar basket so I can see where everything is and get it easily while riding. but there's about a zillion small bag options, and racks+bags/baskets/milk crates for large cargo

>>
>>2077653
I know noobs don't want to believe this because they think the saddle height is so you can put your feet on the ground while stopped; but actually, correct saddle height is so your engine (i.e. you) works best mechanically. pic related.
>b-but...
the newer style frames have a sloping top tube that exposes much more of the seat post. see how it's slanted compared to pic?
also, that is a pretty small frame. it may just be a bike he was given or outgrew but he's riding it anyway. he obviously likes going fast so maybe he likes the crouch for more aero and power. and prefers a smaller frame since he prefers being folded up. which would be a weight benefit since he's obviously a weight weenie fred racer.
>>
>>2077669
look how short his stem is and how he has his hooks angled relative to drops he's either a genetic freak or has no idea what hes doing
>>
>>2077671
he's on the wrong sized frame and stem, certainly. if he chose them on purpose rather than just not knowing about these things when he bought it (rather than it was a hand-me-down, or whatever) then he's a fool, but there is a chance he did it on purpose. some freds like undersized frames. maybe he read that and overdid it. who knows?
he's almost certainly got the proper leg extension because it would be impossible to pedal otherwise. even if he's doing it wrong and locking out his knees and rocking back and forth, you only gain a couple inches that way, it would still be a long post if he corrected for that.
I'm saying he's probably an idiot, but he did the one thing he could control on this given bike correctly.

Was out riding today and some dude in an Altima started yelling at me. I didn't hear most of it but I'm positive he finished with "GET ON THE SIDEWALK YOU SLUT"

Why did he call me a slut? Fag or some racial slur I could get, but why "slut"? Not a troon or f*moid btw

>trying to apply logic to npc actions

I was riding to work on Wednesday and was in the left lane about to make a left turn with nobody behind me when the guy coming toward me in the oncoming lane leaned on his horn as if I was breaking the law. I hadn't even started the turn or signaled for it yet, I was just in position to make it once I reached the junction.

The truth is, a lot of drivers simply don't know the traffic laws. They think we have to be on the shoulder, bike lane, or sidewalk. Seeing a cyclist near the yellow line is completely shocking to some people. There are even studies suggesting that cyclists understand and/or obey traffic laws better than drivers. Google it, there are dozens of studies.

TL;DR: Assume everyone is retarded, especially drivers.

It's hard to appreciate that the scale of society and the vast number of different things to know about. It exceeds the casual person unless they've done the thing or lived around people doing the thing. I tend to forgive such things by using this context.

Anecdotally I started city biking frequently two summers ago and up until that point hadn't even considered using the main lanes, much less presence in the left lane. Seemed so obviously dangerous that nobody would do it (and obviously I hadn't seen other people it). Up to that point city biking was something I might do in the bike lane or on the sidewalk, and use pedestrian crosswalks for left crossings. Learned pretty quickly how wrong I was.

That said, fuck that guy for using the horn. If he'd yelled or gestured then it's just ignorance but horns are loud.
>>
>>2077679
>It's hard to appreciate that the scale of society and the vast number of different things to know about.

Mature outlook. However, drivers had to learn all of these laws and take a test, including dealing with pedestrians and cyclists. It's all in the handbook.

If i weigh 90-100kg, and ride in shitty broken roads and gravel is it safe to say that the minimum acceptable 28"/622 wheel in my case is one with 36 spokes? In order for the rim to withstand the punishment. Would a 32 spoke wheel be realistically viable? Or would be unreliable?
>>
>>2077763
I'm about 90kg and I don't use special wheels. I do have a somewhat fancy front wheel on my fast bike, but it's 20 spoke 622. the rear is normal 32 spoke. my other bike is 630 wheelset 32 spoke. and they go offroad quite a bit.
it is important that the spokes are tensioned correctly and evenly, though. so check for loose(er) spokes and address that yourself or at a shop.

furthermore, I've only seen 622 referred to as "28" on tubes I buy from china. 622 is usually called 700c, or MTBers call it 29”
>>

>622 is usually called 700c, or MTBers call it 29”

years ago when I bought my first road bike I bought a 58cm one since I'm 6' and that's what all the guides said to buy based on my height. I actually remember the guy where I bought it from telling me I should get it in a 56cm or smaller but didn't listen stupidly.

It's not uncomfortable to ride, but over time I adjusted the seat all the way forward as far as it could go as well as replaced the original 10cm stem with a 9cm one which has made it a far more comfortable ride for me.

Well I want to get a new bike now and I think I'm going to get a 54cm. Shouldn't be a problem right? Even if it was "too small" I could always just adjust the seat position backwards or get a slightly longer stem I guess right?
