>bikes are either chinese slop or overpriced euro brand tax slopwhat is unironically the Casio of bike brands? Giant?
>>2077604cube
>>2077604hard to compare since bike manufacturers are generally just selling collections of components put together instead of a single manufactured product. I think on average the same guy who is happy with a Casio watch, would probably be into rigid 90s MTBs. I feel like Microshift could actually pull this off since Shimano clearly does not want to
>>2077604Probably something more like Surly. Intentionally somewhat anachronistic technologies, inexpensive but not the cheapest thing humanly possible, has some nicer stuff but nothing SUPER expensive, adored by people who are perhaps aggressively snobby about being "anti snob", generally valued for the message it says about how the owner appreciates practical workaday stuff, rather than ACTUALLY being a practical workaday product (which it is or at least can be, but it's mostly performative much like the motivation for wearing a Casio). The analogy is not going to be perfect because bikes aren't wristwatches but that's about as close as it gets. The problem with the analogy is that everyone recognizes a Casio, most people who are not into bikes would not know what a Surly is or they might think it's a beer depending on where they live.So it's a niche performativity, if you wanted to die for fashion and send the message in a more recognizable way, you'd buy a meticulously restored 1960s Schwinn for like $2000 and claim you got it at a junkyard for $25 or something. Mamdani would not ride a Surly. I mean of course he'd ride a Citi Bike before anything else but his brand of practicality seems more Jamis or even Raleigh.
>>2077604make ur own bike, get a entry level group and bunch of decent components used or new and make it your own
>>2077618>rigid 90shere we go with this ill advice of a meme. NO, you should not get a garbage gaspipe 90s rigid, look for something that actually fit you.
>>2077604Bikes are different in that it's less about brand and more about the frame itself, so the question now is which frame uses standards that can be considered the Casio of the bike world? That would be the fixed gear bicycle based on track bike standards, 100mm front hub space, 120mm rear hub space, horizontal fork ends, and 68mm bottom bracket, I might even go as far and say external headless headset as well but headset bearing last a long time and I like the clean look of integrated headset bearings. With a bike like that it behind nearly indestructible but if anything does break, replacements are so common, cheap, and plentiful that it shouldn't be a problem, even for the poorest of humans
>>2077604>Giant?Also, Giant does fit the description of were talking bike brands but they're literally bike slop the company
>>2077604sorry fren its all over, good bikes are only cheep in during a trade imbalance.all the companys that would have made the parts for a decent bike are long since bankrupt / zombie husks.schwinn and raleigh used to make absurdly basic and overbuilt bikes.>plot twist>Tange used to have a factory in china, so for a short time even the cheap brands could have double butted 9.7.9 cromo.
>>2077645Perhaps the Pope casio would be comparable to fixie. Things like F91W and G-Shocks match to the nature of 90s MTBs much better.>>2077644Even if you take a low-end "gaspipe" 90s MTB, it will be comparable to a Casio watch. it's far from premium but does what it's designed for in any terrain for price next to nothing. What would you suggest for the comparison?
>>2077604>le casioyou're still a retarded consoomer enslaved by memes. get a spesh like the dumb beast you are
>>2077696u wot bich?
>>2077697you are goycattle!
>>2077687old 10 speed
>>2077696>ZoomerismsThese watches were made even before you became an itch in your dad's nutsack and cost less than $100.
>>2077705>These watches were made even before you became an itch in your dad's nutsackAnd yet you are obsessed with them despite being 21 years old. I bet you own a ThinkPad toot. casio owner but it's not an Fw-91 nor the one with the stupid calculator in it.
>>2077705bro seriously thinks a 100$ watch is a flex and a "less than 100$" watch is big savingsyou can get a casio at walmart for 15$. lil bro seriously paid 95.95 for a meme watch you can get a 10-pack of for 89.99$. nigga really be pulling up to Critical Mass bragging about his 20$/gram weed
>>2077706What's wrong with thinkpads in your understanding/experience? Not to dunk on you, just curious.>>2077707>meme responseDifferent anon, 'lil bro'.
>>2077709>What's wrong with thinkpads in your understanding/experience?they're overpriced new because they're a business class laptop and those are always pricey, and used ones have meme tax because of /g/ and reddit obsessing over them. so at the same specs, you're better off with a similar brand (like an HP EliteBook) that doesn't have an extra 200$ on its price because of some silver painted plastic reading "ThinkPad" with a no longer functional LED for the i being sunk into its gummy sweat-stained rubberized coating
also cannondale would probably be the casio (watch) of bikes. >tecchnology that only became popular for being so futuristic and forward-looking when it came out, surviving for people who want quaint low-tech stuff now>associated with "comfy" "sovl" "just enjoying meself" cope for not having any real hobbies other than consooming>not readily available new in store, entire market is used/fake-gray market or online orders>costs 99x as much as similar offerings from elsewhere when not at MSRP (which will never be paid by anyone ever)>makes new stuff sometimes but it's all stupid widget shit no one asked for and no one cares about in favor of their antiques>beloved by californian techbrosan old cannondale. with the brooks saddle. the brooks saddle is non-negotiable
>>2077710Been happy with a used T480 for $140, barely any scratches, has the detachable battery, no hardware malfunctions. Only thing i do wish it had was the 7-row keyboard instead of Chiclet. But ehh, can't gripe too much.
>>2077712my EliteBook 2560p was 100$ and has all the features of a ThinkPad and MOREat my last job we had T480s as fleet laptops and they were well known for being piles of junk no one wants since we had LatitudesBut we had to keep memepads around becuase they were the only ones still rated for confidential shit already so you didn't have to send a proper good laptop away to have the mics cut out of it
>>2077707>pulling up to Critical Mass bragging about his 20$/gram weedI-Is that expensive? I've been paying 35 for a three-pack of joints
>>2077717nta but weed prices vary to an insane extent, I've seen $65 eights in my time (during prohibition), now you can pick up a pound of ok (not great) but legal flower for $300 on an indian reservation. the good stuff is more like $1000 a poundkinda wild that getting caught with a joint in the deep south lands you a prison sentence and a permanent criminal record and is basically a life-destroying event for a normal person, whereas here you get a free preroll when you buy gas you just have to ask nicely
>>2077729brb moving to wherever this is because i only buy gas 5L at a time for my scoot-scoot
>>2077729clearly we need to go to war with Afghanistan to stabilize these pricesoil AND weed AND opiates all at once, stable prices forever, the best deal in the history of deals, maybe ever
>>2077729Weed is fairly cheap in places like California where it's legal. RSO Full spectrum is a process used for extracting THC that's cheap and is used for making edibles mostly but it's incredibly consistent from my experience.
>>2077731Your vote(s) working as the forefathers intended.Funny how people never hold some accountability against the voters for getting these (((people))) that were deemed qualified to be in office.
>>2077730mohawk nation in western new york. it's basically pennsylvania except you can't own any of the cool guns, and 5 years from now there will probably still be gynecologists
>>2077687those arent MTBs and they arent from the 90s
>>2077687nothing about those are "mountain bike", those are just cruisers someone put a bunch of bags on (and mtbs aren't for cargo anyway, theyre for xtreem sportz)
>>2077838Ok ok we get it, you don't know what you're talking about and arr just trolling. You don't need to drive the point home.
>we-tard>projection>accusation in a mirrorMany such cases
