Starting work as an Able Seaman this week, 3/1 months on/off. Going for two rotations. Got basic STCWs and Marine Emergency Duties, but first time on a ship. It's actually floating worker accommodation outside a remote natural resource facility under construction, not actually going to sea.

Any advice?

I think I know where you are. Check out the local skil hill to the north of you if you get "shore leave" and are into that sort of thing. Otherwise try not to get too bored.

If you're further north than i'm assuming, yikes... good luck. Enjoy the rain and a dingey town with nothing much to do.

But fill us in on your accomodations etc and antics of the workers being housed. I'm sure there'll be some stories. :)
