I'm quite fond of them Paratroopers, but I still wonder why they even bother selling complete bikes. They charge way too much for a cool but woefully outdated frames with literal BSO-tier components. I hope they get Brompton'd, last few years had an explosion of alternative trifolds that were often superior to the originals so the originals were forced to improve, we need the same with the 'Troopers. Gimme a 700c gravel Trooper with full GRX, thru axles and carbon top tube.

Obviously there are nicer more high-strung early mtb's to lust after but these are roughly as nice as it gets for mass-market without getting into more exotic frames. I like weird frames hence the Valkyrie, it combines combines 2 of my other weird frames I like, elevated chainstays and what ever the hell the Bianchi Theridion is. I like GTs for that same reason but they're so trendy now that I feel a bit like a normie for liking them but I won't stop liking something because other people like it. I also have a specialized crossroads that has curved tubes. It looks really sweet imo. I want to learn more about bikes and maybe find a normal looking bike with finer details like what you're talking about. Something that really stands out to you but if you're not a knower you just wouldn't get it. But maybe that's not for me. I like things that stand out to everyone.Pic related is my crossroads.

>>2079398Oh yeah that's a rare find. I got lucky with one of my GTs. Paid $50 for this thing, was sold by a kid for who it was WAAAY too big. It didn't come with the cranks and the brakes I have on there now but it was still a pretty sweet find. And it comes in at 27lbs which is very cool for an XL steel frame.
Here's another oddball I read about lately. A way to ultra short wheelbase. Very goofy compared to a curved seat tube but there's your conversation starter lol. And people who have them seem to really love them.

But it's been converted to 1x11 with XT linkglide, matching NOS avid arch rivals front and back, nos Control Tech seatpost and I replaced the heavy af motorcycle handlebar with a lightweight riser with more rise. I just need to do the cables on it. Been lazy. I'll post a pic when I get home.

NOS BL-M601. I have these "waveservo" levers on most of my bikes.
This was probably the best deal. It was NOS never installed but someone cut off a bit of the post so the guy just sold it for $40. I couldn't believe it.
Sorry for attention whoring in the wrong thread. Looking forward to see how this thing works. The decision to go with link glide is because I plan to use this thing for backpacking and I figure a cassette that can handle having it's gears crunched is a good choice. I went with XT only to flex.

>>2079495I had just one on the front before and I think they're probably the best you can get before switching to disks. I did my research and found that v-brakes technology peaked obviously right before the mass transition to discs in the 90s.I tried shimano parallelograms but even the nicest sets would all squeal. I still have a set of br-m739s on my crossroads but they're not long dor that bike. I even overpaid for one of those washer sets shimano sold for that purpose that's supposed to fix it and even that didn't work. So I went with the arch rival. Even the most worn out ones don't squeal. Interestingly though I found that the shimano parallelograms tend to squeal only on the front wheel. I've switched the front and back breaks before and confirmed it's the direction in which the force is applied that seems to cause it. The previous setup of the karakoram was an LX Br-m570 in the back. I had also added a brake booster later on which is going to be the plan front and back for the final version of my Karakoram. I think I'll go for the Shovel Research ones.
