Can someone tell me what Japanese residential streets are called? I’ve never been to Japan but in videos and anime I keep seeing these narrowish neighborhood streets that lead right up to people’s houses. They’re super walkable even though they almost never have sidewalks, people just walk down the middle of the road. Doors basically open onto the street and there’s almost no on-street parking so the whole thing feels open and free. What’s the actual name for this style of street/layout? Is there a specific term or is it just "normal Japanese residential street"?

Most streets in the third world look like that, even france has a good chunks of neighborhoods looking like thatThat's just what unplanned working class neighborhoods end up looking like after some decades, my shithole country has those in the slums and also gated posh communities

>>2079196japan is inherently superior due to their ethnically homogeneous culture

>>2079196You should see what an urban back alley looks like in America.
I like the concept of not having sidewalks, so that pedestrian and car traffic are mixed and cars have be mindful of pedestrians. Of course this would never work in 3rd world shitholes like the US because HFCS-brained drivers would just run people over
