It is impossible to maintain, build, or even conceive of a bicycle without Park Tool.

pedros
always two there are

fuck off, we're full
>>
just ordered two flat wrenches because super-b was too fat for my ultegra hubs, if these dont fit either I got no clue what to do other than hit the grinder
>>

There he is.

The incredible retard.
>>

Why not just buy the shimano tool?
>>
>>2081328
guess I didn't even realize they had their own tool for the job, saw someone on youtube doing it with the park tools ones on the same hub so figured they should work for me too.
now that I checked the park tools SCW-13 one was a bit cheaper from bike24 than the shimano TL-HS33 which is probably what you meant, I'd figure park tools would be smart enough not to make it any thicker than the shimano one. why my TB-HB24 doesn't fit, I have no idea.
>>
>>2081331
so you order it, it doesnt fit, and you have to buy more

same reason the nut is stupidly thin/shaped in the first place, it's so you have to enter the Device Ecosystem and get the special tool for it instead of a 5$ adjustable wrench

Got a pair if cheapass stamped metal ones from chinkxpress; work just as well as any other one
>>2081342
>Fatsowrench
That won't do it lol
t. have similar ones
>>
>>2081380
unironically the only "cone wrenches" (tiny stamped metal normal wrenches) i have are from chink kits for other stuff, and they are perfectly cromulent for low torque uses but i've definitely bent them just playing with Mecano as a kid let alone doing anything on a bike that has lock nuts in play

I could not imagine using one on any part of the drivetrain where things are actually tight if not outright seized from the factory/previous owner

i refuse to buy a dedicated "cone wrench" and will sooner dremel down its various nuts' surfaces. there is literally no reason it should have a flat for a wrench then a bigger round part

there is literally no reason for picrel other than forcing you to buy a 14mm one-use stamped wrench
>>
>>2081381
forgot my pic in my RAGE
>>
>>2081381
>Bent them
Just unbend them lol couldn't be easier
I've broken a "security" (hollow) torx bit on a seized bolt and stripped and bent an hex wrench on another one.

yes but that is not the point. the hardware should have been appropriate in the first place instead of FORCING hick nonsense. it could have simply been a 14mm and tall enough walls to use a socket, but instead because Lycra Faggotry it's a 297/512 socket (metric, we at SRAM absolutely sware it corresponds to a metric measurement)
>>
>>2081386
It's older than age old shit; you shouldn't be using qr hubs for shit anyway when even the oldest of frames can use 9mm bolt thru which exists for ages as well

i recently had to buy a new wheel due to Decentralizing Interactions and a NUTTED wheel was literally more expensive. THEY do not want you to have maintainable vehicles
>>
>>2081388
I replaced my cheapass old formula's hg hub with a xd I got 2nd hand, and got a 20to15 adapter sleeve to finally be able to fit my 110mm front wheel on anything other than dh forks (thank you, boosttardation). It's now a 11x 34oval/9-42 instead of 9x 24-36/11-36

when i built my moped, i had a failure so severe the chain bound up in the case, locked the rear wheel, and brought me to an immediate stop from ~45kmh to 0, while on a defacto high speed road (a posted 60 zone, but one used extensively by heavy trucks because it is directly next to a port that specifically imports and exports vehicles and only vehicles)

the skid was bad enough that i looked at it immediately and thought "fug it it's nice i'll walk" and once i got it home a hole was worn not just through the tire but the tube had a good inch-wide hole in it. I am shocked that the rim didn't take any damage.

Another time I had bad sproket alignment and a similar chain induced destruction and lost 4 spokes instantly, with 3 or 4 more being severely bent. I took the quick link out and rode home under electric power at the hub.

This is who you share a road with, and if things were arranged a little better, such range and endurance and overall immediately available power wouldn't be required

btw my brothers in airspeed it is fucking Typhoon Season

i should feel bad for making my vehicle an affront to Thoth, i still havent even looked at the clutch (but i have bought her one new wheel)

gonna hit that bitch with the actual socket set instead of the adjustable wrench
