I hop the crubs on occasion, really depends where. Where I live you're allowed on sidewalks when going through an underpass since so many cyclists got killed in them. I will also do it when there's too much traffic and the sidewalk is empty. I will only ride on a busy sidewalk when I'm going to park my bike to a poll and only at a walking pace.

there is a short section of my commute that involves an underpass and a blind left across a busy road, so i hop on the opposite sidewalk a street before the underpass to avoid that and the blind cross.

being a quasi pedestrian is one of the perk of riding a bicycle. if there's bike lanes, i much prefer them, but i will go onto sidewalks whenever necessary. you can do all sort of neat tricks for moving around town and switching between road rider and pedestrian modes.
riding sidewalks is not illegal in my city, also helps

The only time I will ever ride on the sidewalk is if I have to go against traffic which is rare because I always plan my routes around avoiding that as much as I can. Otherwise I have no issues riding with traffic if it's a multi-lane road. If I'm going too slow for your ass then just move over Karen
