>Cantwell, Blumenthal raise concerns over House KOSA bill ahead of potential action
>WASHINGTON DC - Democratic senate lawmakers in Washington are sounding the alarm over house legislation, that they say isn't harsh enough against big tech corporations.

>U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) the ranking Member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), author of the Senate Kids Online Safety Act were joined today by families who have lost their their children’s use of social media.

>House lawmakers have reached a bipartisan deal on a legislative package intended to strengthen online safety and privacy protections for children and teenagers—a key sign of progress on a major policy priority.

>Energy and Commerce Chair Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) and ranking member Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) on Monday announced an agreement on a new version of the KIDS Act (H.R. 7757), a package of more than a dozen bills that includes the high-profile Kids Online Safety Act, or KOSA.

>Securing Democratic support for the initially Republican-only package marks a significant step toward advancing the package through the chamber. House lawmakers have long sought to respond to growing concerns that social media companies, such as TikTok Inc., Snap Inc., and Meta Platforms Inc.‘s Instagram, pose risks to children and their mental health, but have yet to reach enough accord to successfully pass legislation.

tl;dr it's your job to raise my kids you fucking shitlord, take pictures of your face and let the government log your keystrokes and upload them to public databases.
can't wait for every person here to show us their greasy unwashed face. At least we'll get to find out who the Russians are
>>
>>1521705
And the kids will find all the workarounds. They already use Kojima's piss simulator to scan Norman Reedus for facial recognition.
>>
>>1521710
To be fair we should all be doing this. Never submit to anything. Even if you're forced to, use workarounds. Use the internet like you're a little kid trying to find porn on roblox.

Remember to call your reps.
>>
SCOTUS ruling on Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton opened the door for all the age (identity) verifications laws passing across the United States
>>
>>1521717
Cope. I'm on a first name basis with a lot of the staff for my reps. I highly doubt that any of my reasonable comments and concerns or my unhinged ramblings even make it to them. I'm also not politically aligned with them, so why would they bother to listen to me? I'm not going to vote for the fucks unless they do a complete 180, and they know that. So they don't give a shit. It would take a mass campaign to change their minds and even then I just don't see it; they are all hardliners. I really only still call so I can feel smug about being a person who calls them when people like you say shit like this.
>>
>>1521728
Pretty much this
The first thing you're supposed to include in any letter is that you voted for them in the last election and you are their party. Whether true or not, you need to include it to even get the intern reading it to open the letter.

Even then unless there's a thousand bucks attached to it, it's never leaving that intern's hand.

SCOTUS ruling on Free Speech Coalition v Paxton is incompatible with Katz vs United States in 1967
https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/389/347/

I don't care what the current crop of autocrats think. Their decisions are incompatible with 60 years of prior rulings.

Even considering this ruling, it's only for pornography websites. KOSA is for EVERY SINGLE WEBSITE. That is absolutely a violation of the Katz ruling. This is just writing law from the bench. It'll be overturned in a few years once the current crop of politicians get cycled. Maybe this November even.
>>
>>1521705
For what? This is one of those global imperatives.
Imagine calling your rep being more important than whoever is pushing Internet ID behind the scenes.
>>
>>1521705
oh no reddit's userbase is about to be halved
>>
>>1521731
It's mostly bots these days powered by Chinese AI.
>>
republicunts love protecting kids
protecting them on the way to their DICKS
>>
>>1521733
It would be extremely funny if the bots all got purged for lack of ID, but they'll probably write special exceptions just for them.

100% of chomos are LGBTQ

>>1521735
Bots are central to Reddit as are LGBTQ mods.

finally, something bother parties can agree on: more control over what people do.

IS that why grinder crashes every time there is a right wing event?
>>
>>1521728
Yeah, you're right. Better do nothing instead.
>>
>>1521740
You know, I keep hearing this so I looked into it.
Grinder uses AWS (Amazon Web Services). There should be no reason for issues with Grinder as it's not even on a centralized server.
So, another liggeral myth appears to be BUSTED.
Here's Newsweek reporting on it:
https://www.newsweek.com/grindr-app-crashes-milwaukee-rnc-1927750

>The Grindr app also allegedly experienced problems in the Cream City on Thursday— the fourth and final day of the RNC — as well as in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. However, Grindr's official status updates show there hasn't been an outage since May.

So, I'd imagine you believed propaganda again.
>>
>>1521705
Meta's opposition killed KOSA the first time around. This time they agreed to get out of the way as long as their AI projects remained unregulated. Fuckers.
>>
101% of chuds such as 1521736 are pedos and/or pedo enablers.
The GOP - Gang Of Pedophiles - refuse to make child marriages in certain states illegal, so 1521736 the projecting chomo defends pedos.
>>
>>1521759
You sure know anawful lot about grinder....
>>
>>1521772
No no, see Grindr switching over to AWS to ensure their app won't crash during the RNC is proof that conservatives aren't actually using Grindr, and you can see it in esl faggots link...

>The source explained that a headless photo on someone's Grindr profile usually means the person is looking for a fling and not a relationship. On a normal day, the Grindr user said he usually comes across around 10 users who don't show their face, but claimed he stopped counting at 50 anonymous profiles when he checked the app Thursday.

The massive influx of anonymous users surrounding the RNC was and is just a coincidence.

100% of Trump supporters and that which they support are chomos. 1521736 said it, I didn't.
>>
>>1521729
I'm not agreeing. I honestly don't believe people should be forced to do identity verification (because that is what it actually is) to access any part of the internet. There's so many reasons why putting the internet behind ID checks is a bad idea and even dangerous, for one data breaches happen all the time, it's insane that no one gives a fuck about identity theft. Why are they just ignoring that Parental controls exist and can be highly effective? Hell if you don't want your kids online at all you have the power to simply not give them a device? Every country is just using the same "think of the children" script to violate everyone's privacy, censor and ruin the internet as we know it, take away people's rights to free speech and I don't know about the rest of the countries but even the right to anonymous speech is supposed to be protected under the US constitution. Anyway, anyone with a brain knows this is not about children, governments just want more control.
>>
>A thread about Democrats pushing fascist laws being spun into Trump psychosis by ESL shills
>>
Parents are the ones who should be held accountable for what their children access online
>>
>>1521738
I mean across the internet in general. If every site requires it, then how are you supposed to load up thousands of AI accounts to spam whatever garbage you want a botnet for? If they can use an AI generated head to bypass it, then so can any random kid. So they'll probably give them a special exception because tech companies own every government.
>>
>>1521759
Libshits will believe anything that is anti-Trump.
Remember the fuss about wanting to buy Greenland? "He nuts" "Who on earth would want to do this"

The US tried to buy Greenland after the Civil War, when Grant and Seward bought Alaska. It was a good decision since it wouold open up the Northwest passage, but Denmark said no.

Teddy Roosevelt made an offer in the early 20th century.

Then after WWII, Trump offered to buy Greenland for the resources and the Arctic Ocean access, and to keep an eye on Russia. Denmark agreed to the deal but Congress voted it down because they didn't like the Dutch West Indies clause.

Hillary explored the idea as Secretary of State under Obama but it didn't come to anything.

>it's a good idea when someone who isn't Trump wants to do it
>>
>>1521788
>Trump offered to buy Greenland f
meant to post "Truman"
>>
>>1521788
The Greenland thing will never happen I don't know if you have realized it yet but America is an Empire on decline the debt is insane and the economy is going to shit so forget about the expansionist belief of Manifest destiny because that idea is dead
>>
>>1521789
even if someone overlooks your tds inspired typo, people were making fun of trump for continually talking about buying greenland when they kept saying no
you know, like a rapist would. which ties back into the whole pedophile thing

>The Republican supreme court which is packed by Republicans and trump opened the door to a police state.
Well, we saw this coming 25 years ago when they forced through the Patriot Act.
>>
>>1521776

And web services want advertisement money. First they need to prove human usership on the internet, but that would kill the whole system. Trigger the bots here and watch a thread "grow"
>>
>>1521787
Those will be owned and operated by the government and corporations only
>>
This is what antifa shitlords need to start rallying against.
Let us deport the illegals. Go fight for something worthwhile.
(They won't though.)

you're cool.

not gaylonelyanon@protonmail.com

Do Republicans realize if this shit passes then when the inevitable pendulum shifts, then you can say goodbye to conservatives being able to have their safety online?
>>
>>1521778
>Ignores he’s about to be buttf*cked by one since this forsaken law passed Congress.

This projection wreaks of NO SELF awareness, and now look what’s going to happen, everyone in this thread, including YOU, are about to be buttf*cked, by the KIDS act. All because you care about dunking on “ESL Shills”
>>
>>1521987
They do not care. It's never them, personally, that suffers. It's only their pawns in this big game that is politics.
>>
the KIDS act passed the House yesterday
>>
>>1522077
Discord is preparing to ID literally every person, Google just rolled it out for their email
It's going to pass and everyone is going to be required to install OS level spyware.
>>
>>1522056

It comes for them eventually, history hosts plenty of precedents where politicans and their supporters get purged with the very things they supported to oppress others.
>>
>>1521705
There's always a possibility that Trump will veto it.
>>
There's always the fact that it will be passed: >>1522077
