> Melat Kiros was born in 1997, the year her representative in the U.S. House, Democrat Diana DeGette, took office. On Tuesday, Kiros hopes to unseat her.

> The next frontier of the fight for the Democratic Party is in Denver, where DeGette, a 15-term incumbent and longtime progressive, is facing her most serious primary challenge yet from Kiros, a 29-year-old democratic socialist and first-time candidate.

> Democrats’ widespread dissatisfaction and anger with their party leadership and a push for generational change in the wake of the party’s loss to President Donald Trump in 2024 have made incumbents in safe blue seats, like DeGette, unexpectedly vulnerable, with both Kiros and University of Colorado Regent Wanda James challenging her.

Sounds good
A 15 termer who a quick google search shows hasn't done anything of note since the mid 00's is just coasting and cashing checks
Some fresh blood and competition should shake her out of her complacency, even if briefly
And if it doesn't, maybe it's time for a fresh face in the seat
>>
>>1522109
I’d rather have the oldest blood than a Socialist.
>>
>>1522110
Lots of young/ younger people on both sides of the aisle, pretty much anyone who came of age during or after the recession of 2008, feel like the post Soviet world of unchecked capitalism has failed them and are looking for alternatives
The failure and complacency of the current system is what always leads to a radicalized youth
If the promises of "America is the land of opportunity" and "Work hard and you'll get ahead" had actually been true for the younger generations, socialism would be a total fringe ideology
>>
>>1522124
Socialism is still fringe. The ideas they're pushing are just pretty basic liberal democracy stuff, centrist if anything.
>>
>>1522126
That's the hilarious thing. They overton window has shifted so far rightward that after calling everything under the sun socialist, people have stopped giving a shit.
Much like the right no longer caring about being called racist or nazis, the left has stopped calling about the socialist label. If you're going to call us the thing no matter what, may as well keep going
>>
>>1522127
>They overton window has shifted so far rightward
You can unironically be socialist and run for office. You cannot be a fascist, ethnonationalist or anything similar and run for office.
>>
>>1522128
then how is the federal government currently overrun with fascist ethnonationalists
>>
>>1522130
Ethnonationalism means you want your own country to be one ethnic demographic anon. White christian conservatives jerking themselves off about how many black people are in their party aren't ethnonationalists.
>>
>>1522131
sorry anon, but we have eyes
>>
>>1522132
I'm glad you call everything ethnonationalist fascism. The less voters take you seriously, the better.
>>
>>1522133
you sure are a melodramatic shill
>>
>>1522131
>Ethnonationalism means you want your own country to be one ethnic demographic anon.
...yeah?
>>
>>1522142
...but why pick a race you don't belong to and hates people your color?
>>
>>1522128
Trump and the republicans are effectively fascists.
And because they've run things so badly, the generational brainwashing that socialism is bad is actually breaking.
Will trump stage another coup, we shall see.
>>
>>1522153
>the generational brainwashing that socialism is bad is actually breaking
Actual batshit opinion. Socialists killed more humans than fascist, that's why sane people dislike it.
>>
>>1522131
Why would they be jerking themselves off? Maybe they celebrate token blacks because? Come on Anon, I know you can connect the dots.
>>
1522132
>we
Hi, esl shill.
Subhuman fascists killed more humans than Socialists ever will, despite any & all retarded claims to the contrary by rightards: subhumans that will never be listened to because lying is in their inferior DNA. That's why Norway sends UK a Xmas tree every year since 1945. And Denmark is the happiest country on the planet.
Democratic Socialism doing infinitely more for humans than inferior rightardism ever will.
>>
>>1522153
Socialist and fascist have no meaning because of people like you. What the fuck even is a socialist now? All of the progressive Democrats that are self proclaimed socialists are just crony capitalists and their idea of socialism is importing millions of third worlders and putting them on welfare
>>
>>1522199
>Socialist and fascist have no meaning because of people like you.
Projection, probably.
>>
Socialists are superior and fascists have no meaning because of inferior subhuman rightards. What the fuck even is a migger now, but a miserable little pile of retardation? All of the Republicans are just self-serving capitalists and their idea of being anti-immigration is importing millions of third worlder H1Bs and paying them peanuts.
>>
>>1522110
>id rather have the oldest blood than a Socialist.
if tRump keeps up all this good work, you may be seeing some old blood spilled.

PS: I'm a pacifist and a spectator, this is why I voted for tRump.
>>
>>1522153
>Trump and the republicans are effectively fascists.
No, they are not. Not even remotely. Fascism is a very specific political model.

>the generational brainwashing that socialism is bad is actually breaking.
No, not really. DSA is only winning deep blue areas that are already very progressive (and always have been). And yes, socialism is objectively an inferior economic model.
>>
>>1522348
do you suck billionaire cock for the flavor? what's the appeal, exactly
>>
>>1522349
I dont think about, or care about, billionaires at all. I think about myself and how your policies will have a direct negative consequence on my economic prospects.
>>
>>1522349
It was millionaires until Bernie became a millionaire. Now its billionaires. Its always "someone has more than me and thats not fair".
Which is no way to run the most advanced economy on the planet.
>>
>>1522351
>i don't think
you could've just stopped there. it is a wonder you haven't been replaced by a bot yet
>>
>>1522355
>no argument
Yeah, that's what I thought.
>>
>>1522359
you don't think, esl shill. and there is no argument, maga is fascism with american idiosyncrasies
>>
>esl schizo thinks he's going to get a (you)
>>
>>1522354
>It was millionaires until Bernie became a millionaire. Now its billionaires. Its always "someone has more than me and thats not fair".

Bernie becoming a millionaire doesn't disprove anything. The argument was never "millionaires bad because someone has more money than me." The argument shifted because the economy shifted. A million dollars used to be an unimaginable fortune; now billion-dollar fortunes are common among the ultra-rich. The scale of wealth concentration changed, so the criticism changed with it.
>>
>>1522345
Oh rly?!
>>
>>1522368
>Bernie becoming a millionaire doesn't disprove anything
Bernie spent his entire career using the same rhetoric he does now about billionaires against millionaires. Then he became a millionaire and so he started talking about billionaires.

>A million dollars used to be an unimaginable fortune
Bernie first took office in 1981. $1 million in 1981 is worth $3.5 million today. Bernie is worth $2-2.5 million based on his disclosures.

Tell me what a modern socialist is and which politicians fit into that category.
>Hard mode: No ad homs or fallacies
>Nightmares mode: no changing the subject or deflecting
>Impossible mode: just answer the question
>>
>>1522393
>Tell me what a modern socialist
Usually mix of brown immigrants or the children of brown immigrant and downwardly mobile middle class white kids madling that their degrees don't confer the prestige or income that they thought it would.

>which politicians fit into that category.
Any and all associated with DSA.
>>
>>1522393
I don't know.
