From the moment they announced this idea people pointed out it was retarded; even if they took their time and used the best quality of paint (and also didn't drive over the damn thing), it doesn't change how that shade of blue promotes algae growth and the ways to prevent that (red lighting, hyperactive filters, massive amounts of chlorine) are completely inaccessible to a reflecting pool. But did they listen? Nope, and then they half-assed the whole thing anyway. And if the half-assing wasn't enough, they ran over it. And if the half-assing and the runover wasn't enough, when the algae inevitably turned the fucking thing green, they half-assed dumping chemicals in by literally just grabbing like a few dozen regular canisters of bleach from store shelves and dumping it all near the edges, which not only didn't kill the algae anywhere other than the edges, but also destroyed the new liner even further because you dumped bleach on it.
