https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/6009069-senate-funding-bill-seeks-hemp-thc-ban-delay/
Makers of hemp THC products were thrown a lifeline when senators in a stopgap spending bill included a delay of a federal ban on their products.

The Senate’s government funding bill set to be considered this week would delay the upcoming prohibition on most hemp-derived THC products until Dec. 11.

Hemp industry groups and their allies touted the provision as a significant win that would give them more time to convince lawmakers to regulate their products, rather than ban them by closing the so-called “hemp loophole.”

The U.S. Hemp Roundtable said passing the continuing resolution would be “a landmark victory for the hemp industry” and the biggest win since the 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp.

The Hemp Beverage Alliance, the trade association for the hemp beverage industry, praised lawmakers for “standing up for responsible hemp beverage suppliers and their supply chain partners.”

“We urge the Senate to quickly pass this legislation and send it to the House for their swift approval as soon as they return,” Hemp Beverage Alliance founder and president Christopher Lackner said in a statement.

However, passage is not assured.

A bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general is urging Congress to reject any efforts to delay or weaken the ban, and GOP Sen. Ted Budd (N.C.) pledged to introduce an amendment to strip the provision from the bill.

The 35 attorneys general, led by Indiana’s Todd Rokita (R), warned in a letter sent to House and Senate leaders and top appropriators on Tuesday that a delay would give the intoxicating hemp industry another opportunity to reopen a loophole that was already voted closed and to continue profiting from unregulated products that mimic marijuana.
>>
“The redefinition restores the 2018 Farm Bill’s original goal of allowing the cultivation of hemp crops for uses within American industry–separate from the cultivation or processing of marijuana,” the attorneys general wrote.

In a separate statement, Rokita urged Congress not to “bow to the special interests” that want to keep the loophole open.

“Reject the delay, keep your promise and let the law take effect,” Rokita said.

A law passed late last year redefined hemp to close what critics called the “hemp loophole” brought about by the 2018 Farm Bill, which removed hemp from the controlled substances list.

The law’s broad definition and subsequent lack of federal regulation created a loophole that allowed companies to extract and synthesize high levels of THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana responsible for a high.

Those cannabinoid products, including gummies and drinks, have exploded in popularity and are now sold beyond dispensaries, expanding to gas stations, convenience stores and even major retailers such as Target.

Many can give people a marijuana-like high without being considered marijuana. They are sold without consistent age restrictions or labeling regulations and oftentimes resemble candy.

The new definition limits legal hemp products to 0.4 milligrams per container of total THC, or any other cannabinoids with similar effects. The policy was set to take effect Nov. 12, so the practical impact would push the effective date by a month.
>>
However, cannabinoids that are synthesized and “are not capable of being naturally produced by a Cannabis sativa L. plant” would still be banned on the original timeline.

Last month, the House passed its own version of the government funding bill, but it did not have any provisions to alter the planned hemp product ban, and it’s not clear if Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) would want to include the provision.

There have been bipartisan bills in both chambers to prevent the upcoming ban, though so far, none have gained traction with leadership.

trump passed it to ban competition for cannabis. Hemp was under a loophole where they could sell synethetic cannabinoid despite it being a schedule 1. If you followed the sector trump's got alot of funding from cannabis company to push for this in particularly TRLV.
Trump's actually pro cannabis as much as you can for an old timer he's on an ad for florida legalization and has been pushing for rescheduling from 1 to 3, aka going from Meth to tylenol effectively.

Its one of the few things Trump has done that i agree with. Signing the farm bill in his first term was great and wanting to change weed to schedule 3 will be very beneficial.
Hemp as an industrial product has a ton of uses. Processing plants would create jobs. For me its a no brainer.
>>
>>1527787
hemp and cannabis are sorta competitors so closing a loophole and just rescheduling it to 3 is the proper way to do things. Its funny how rescheduling weed was a grift biden kamala and schumer kept bring up especially that cunt schumer who openly bragged about it then never bought it up for a vote.

In countries where drugs are legalized, use goes down. People who aren't afraid of losing their jobs and going to prison if they admit using are more likely to see help. People that just like doing drugs and don't need help can do drugs safely, and standardized dosing that came with regulation would prevent the vast majority of overdose, making drugs safer for literally everyone involved while earning us tax dollars we'll need to pay for the petrodollar destabilizing Iran war. Or, y'know, addiction services.
First guy, you don't know the difference between a junkie and someone who takes drugs recreationally. And that doesn't surprise, you're a pussy and a giant square, you seem profoundly unpleasant, of course nobody wants to be around you or waste their drugs on you.
Second guy, you're right, but that's one small argument, there's so many more good reasons legalization is a good idea. We aren't just stepping in and taking over for the drug dealers, we are preventing bad people from exploiting us for money AND vastly improving the circumstances of people who would use anyway.

>>
>>1528036
The fact is that you want cartels to win in American policy. Pretending and projecting it is characteristic of your retarded weed addiction.
>>
>>1528041
Literally continuing this is letting the cartels win. They make more money from hemp and weed being illegal because it lets them maintain universal control of it.
>>
>>1528042
This is a tired argument on an issue that you wrongly believe is a supply and demand issue, but it's not. In fact, if it WAS a demand issue, it would mean that junkies with American citizenship have been looking to meet that demand by colluding with foreign nationals who commit mass gang violence and smuggle children for the purposes of drug distribution and prostitution. Rewarding those kinds of people with easier access to product is a non-starter, and allowing them to set up shop as though they're legitimate businesses in the hopes that they'll voluntarily stop committing treason in order to support their own drug habit is not permissible in any civilization. This is obvious to anyone who isn't a chemically deranged dope fiend. Hope this helps.
>>
>>1528052
Anon I don't know how to break this to you, but your method has literally failed to work in every country it has tried, whereas the alternative has actually had results.

Shockingly, the cartels actually lose money when they go from being able to sell weed exclusively to having legal competitors.
>>
>>1528073
Hey remember when we banned alcohol, organized crime literally hit a golden age by operating as bootleggers during prohibition, and then they lost shittons of money when prohibition ended and never reached the same level of prominence and power again?
>>
>>1528078
>and then they lost shittons of money
Those organized crime families still exist. They moved on to peddling heroin and trafficking kids.
The ancap argument of 'just legalize everything' is retarded. Every single instance of regulation not working is primarily driven by half-measures on the part of law enforcement.

>>1528082
>Those organized crime families still exist. They moved on to peddling heroin and trafficking kids.
With nowhere near the power, influence, and income they had at the time, so I'm not sure what your point is. No one is saying the cartels will vanish overnight if they stop getting profit from weed but it'll certainly hurt them on some level.

>>1528084
Literally what is different about the two situations. Surely it isn't that weed is somehow a greater evil than alcohol.
>>
>>1528076
You've made it clear you don't know what the root issue is, and I'm done spoonfeeding it to you. And no, your California-tier idea of what to do about it doesn't work. It actively worsens the problem, and you're clearly going to support any moronic form of leniency that's extended to the abuse of controlled substances regardless of their mechanics. Hence, people aren't going to humor you with debate and will continue voting overwhelmingly against you on the local level like they've been doing in much of the country in recent years.
>>
>>1528090
>Hence, people aren't going to humor you with debate and will continue voting overwhelmingly against you on the local level like they've been doing in much of the country in recent years.
Local level voting immensely favors legalization tho. The sole one that failed in florida still managed to get a majority vote, just not the 60% required for a constitutional amendment.

>It actively worsens the problem,
Ok is the problem "the cartels making money" or "people getting high in general". Because it really seems like your issue is the latter over the former.
>>
>>1528087
>With nowhere near the power, influence, and income they had at the time
They've grown even more powerful, retard. Cartels are now using military drones along the southern border of the US.
Denaturalizing drug dealers is the moderate option because shit is just going to get worse as time moves forward.
>>
>>1528093
Yeah the cartels, who didn't give a shit about prohibition because they weren't the ones bootlegging.

Where's the power and influence of shit like the Mafia today?
>>
>>1528093
>Denaturalizing drug dealers is the moderate option
Imagine being genuinely delusional enough to think that mass deportations of US citizens will fix anything, let alone that it is the "moderate" position.
>>
>>1528092
You must have a very cynical opinion of the public's intelligence trying to pilpul them into capitulating to street dealers in order to "lose profits" for cartels that those same dealers have been working for year over year up to this point. You think people who commit crimes internationally which are tantamount to warfare should be placated and have the laws changed in their favor because "profits tho". It's retarded on its face, not to mention transparently motivated by a desire for the substance itself. Go beg Trump for your fix and quit wasting time trying to get political here.
>>
>>1528097
Yeah you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.

>>
>>1528095
Whether they get deported or not, stripping their citizenship will make it harder for them to distribute on U.S. soil which is why the cartels enlist them to begin with. That's an actual disincentive, not the tired BS about redirecting profits that weedheads have been peddling for decades as cartels get bigger, even while drugs have been legalized in some places and reforms on drug crimes have been more lenient.
>>
>>1528099
It's the migger indoctrination combined with the hugbox effect which makes them think everyone talks that way.
>>
>>1528094
>Where's the power and influence of shit like the Mafia today?
Organized crime syndicates eventually infiltrate positions of government and/or try to go legitimate.
Epstein (as an example) was working with Jewish crime syndicates and the US government simultaneously under the guise of being a financial manager. Same reason why the Mexican government is effectively run by the cartels.
>>1528095
>let alone that it is the "moderate" position.
That is the moderate position.
If some guy is ruining your community, then the obvious solution is to remove that guy from the community.
This is only a point of contention among people who think that removing those people is inherently immoral in some way.
>>
>>1528098
Nah, you're just a dopey faggot. You'll keep whining and making excuses no matter what happens. And yeah, working for cartels is treason for sure.

>>1528099
Shake faster, kike.
>>
>>1528102
>Whether they get deported or not, stripping their citizenship will make it harder for them to distribute on U.S. soil which is why the cartels enlist them to begin with
Ok so first of all you don't even know what your own words mean. Not only can you literally no denaturalize a US citizen even if they commit a crime (denaturalization only occurs in case when the naturalization itself was given under invalid circumstances) but you literally would have to deport someone after doing so.

Secondly, acting like this will not just result in more dealers filling their place is retarded.

Third, it is PROVEN FACT that legalizing shit undercuts and harms the cartels because their entire business model revolves around being the black market. They can't legally even sell to the legal distributors because they're a criminal organization.
>>
>>1528107
>it is PROVEN FACT that legalizing shit undercuts and harms the cartels because their entire business model revolves around being the black market.
NTA
The goal isn't to harm the cartels, it's to protect the community.
Legalizing black tar heroin undercuts the cartels, sure, but then there's nothing stopping black tar heroin from flooding the country and making life objectively worse.
Prison and 'moderate' approaches to policing obviously don't work, as you've already admitted. Legalization doesn't work either. Which leaves one other option.
>>
>>1528108
>Which leaves one other option.

>>
>>1527722
>The law’s broad definition and subsequent lack of federal regulation created a loophole that allowed companies to extract and synthesize high levels of THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana responsible for a high.
Article is retarded. Hemp and Marijuanna are the exact same plant. The legal difference (according to the hemp bill Trump signed) is whether or not a Sativa/Indica plant passes a threshold contains 0.003% THC. There's nothing to extract.
>>
>>1528119
Its probably because they smoke too much heroin
If only there was a safer smokable for them that could be legal in America
>>
>>1528107
>Not only can you literally no denaturalize a US citizen even if they commit a crime
The change necessary to make that possible is called "reform". It's extremely feasible with an amendable constitution. Stop trying to be cute by acting like reform is a one-way street that can only ever favor subversive dope fiends like you.

>Third, it is PROVEN FACT
No, it isn't. Capslock as hard as you can, that fact still won't change.
>>
>>1528124
Well, Republicans decided to spend their political good will on corruption, enriching themselves, and protecting pedophiles, so I think the incoming Democratic congress will fix it properly while you whine about not being able to deport libs

Methamphetamine is Schedule 2. You can get it at the grocery store. Schedule 1 is a complete joke because all the really destructive drugs have obvious therapeutic uses that make them Schedule 2
