President Donald Trump has been accused of bribery and vote buying online after he offered $5000 dividend checks to American adults if Republicans won the midterms.

“I will give $5,000 to every adult if we win,” Trump said and the excerpt of his speech was shared widely online.

One page sharing the video wrote “Trump attempts to bribe people to vote for Republicans in the midterms.”
Trump's $5000 check promise sparks backlash

Several critics were quick to point out that Trump was offering money for votes essentially, ahead of the midterms. “Today Trump tried to buy the midterms by offering all voters a $5,000 bribe in exchange for their votes, provided they spend the cash in the U.S. Since the Fed will have to print the money, the result would be massive inflation, well in excess of anything experienced under Biden,” American stockbroker Peter Schiff noted.

Another remarked “lol. trump openly bribing people to vote for republicans. $5k per person if republicans hold the house and the senate?”. Yet another criticized the president, saying “That's $2 trillion of taxpayers' money in freebies - the Venezuela model. In a real democracy, this is vote-buying, and he would be banned from contesting.”

One person further explained "A sitting US president publicly promised tonight every adult a $5,000 "Trump dividend" if Republicans win full control of Congress, running directly into severe legal and structural barriers. The primary legal threat is 18 U.S.C. § 600, which criminalizes promising government benefits made possible by Congress as a reward for supporting a political party. Tying the money to GOP control fits § 600 far more closely than a standard tax-cut pledge. Vote-buying statutes like 18 U.S.C. § 597 and 52 U.S.C. § 10307(c) also apply."

>>
“While defenders would argue this is a policy platform rather than a bribe, the explicit transaction creates real legal risk. Regardless of criminal law, the president lacks the constitutional authority to issue payments unilaterally. Under the Appropriations Clause and the Anti-Deficiency Act, spending over a trillion dollars requires explicit congressional funding and cannot occur by executive order. The Hatch Act largely exempts the president, though staff involvement would trigger criminal scrutiny. The statement conflicts with the spirit of federal vote-buying laws,” they added.

What to know about Trump 'bribe'?

Trump said the $5,000 payment would be called the ‘Trump dividend’. “Now all we have to do is win,” he added. As per Bloomberg, this would cost the US government well in excess of $1 trillion.

Trump however, did not describe how the payments would be issued, or funded. Any cash payments would have to be approved by Congress. The announcement comes at a time when the significant US deficit is already weighing on borrowing costs. The money, Trump said, would need to be spent in the US, though the president didn’t go into details about how that would be enforced.
>>
Can it even be considered an attempted bribe when it's such an obvious lie that only people who are retarded enough to support him anyway would believe it?
>>

trump's failed coup is still a coup even if it was done in the most retarded possible fashion.

He thinks so little of the MAGA base, it's incredible.
I thought I had no respect for the intelligence of miggers. But Trump, man. He just insults them like this right to their faces.

This is what President Trump meant when he said hes made billions in the stock market for America, not himself. His market success was never about him, it was always a way to help the American people

Interesting.
>>
>>1535219
Yes. Yes, it can. An official openly offering money for votes has broken the law. You cannot assume that he was joking, since he was speaking in an official capacity.

But Trump is different. He is immune, because the GOP has managed to stack the USSC far, far more effectively than the Democrats have since Reagan. Obama was the greatest failure among Democrats. Trump has been the greatest winner since Reagan.

It also hasn't been enforced because it is presumptively unconstitutional and has been found as such repeatedly in court. There's a difference between something being on the books and being good law. Plenty of laws get killed by judges or prosecutorial policy while remaining "on the books".

Nope.
>>
>>1535548
Not enough to make up for price increases and only in a few select spaces overall. Most of the increase were just companies buying resources up before they'd be tariffed, meaning it doesn't actually do much long term. Meanwhile, actual construction of new manufacturing facilities has only gone down since Trump took office. We're not building the manufacturing industry back, it's just reacting to Trump's tariff shenanigans.

Also, in case you need a basic layout to tell you why decreasing your trade deficit is bad: if your trade deficit is decreasing, that means you're purchasing less from other countries. Trade is mutually beneficial; if you stop doing it, both parties suffer. And as I just told you, it's not even like we're now manufacturing things we used to buy; now we're just not buying them or buying less of them. Meaning the things we import and the things we make with those imports are getting more fucking expensive.
>>
>>1535216

>>

>Meanwhile, actual construction of new manufacturing facilities has only gone down since Trump took office. We're not building the manufacturing industry back, it's just reacting to Trump's tariff shenanigans.
This is simply untrue.

First, you said manufacturing wasn't growing. I've presented data that shows the complete opposite.

Then, you pivot to "we're not building". Which is also untrue, over $11 trillion in investments have been announced since Trump took office. Currently, $168B has already been spent. Biden was able to get $1 trillion (which is impressive).

Finally, none of this has anything to do with your (idiotic) assertion that "actually a higher trade deficit is better than a lower one".
>>
>>1535562
>all the data shows a broad economic recovery
funny because it literally shows that economic recovery started under Biden and then has begun to stall under Trump.
>>
>>1535566

Announcements don't mean shit. Objectively, construction in manufacturing has only gone down since 2024.
>>
>>1535564
>>1535565
>No, it’s because of the tariff,

Incorrect and its not a fact that's up for debate. The dollar devalued by about 17% under Biden, and consumer prices increased by 21% under his admin. Wages did not climb to match either increase.

"Things are more expensive" is the natural consequence of inflation and CPI increases. This is Eco 101, come on now.

Ok smart guy, please explain how its somehow better that we're not importing things at the same time we're not building those things here either?

The US is one of the biggest economies on the planet. It SHOULD have a pretty big trade deficit with most of the world because there is no way most of the world can compete. By lowering it, all you do is effectively lower how much the US is exporting and importing, which is a bad thing.

COVID was neither the cause of inflation or CPI growth. Both were largely caused by the Biden admin dumping $3 trillion into the economy (American Rescue Plan, Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act, CHIPS Act (actually good), Inflation Reduction Act (lol))

What you say doesn't reflect reality and you refuse to acknowledge that Trump's economic policy is complete nonsense. The man threatened to ban all trade with countries we have a trade deficit with last week. >The vast majority of food in the US is grown in the US or not subject to tariffs.
Actually, they are indirectly, proving that much like Trump you have no fucking clue how tariffs work. Food grown in the US isn't tariffed; you know what is? The parts for the machines they need to harvest and process them. And also the fertilizer they need to grow them. And then you know what happens when the retaliatory tariffs mean farmers and producers make less money on their exports? They have to increase the price at home to make up for that lost revenue too.

You know what else affects food? Not properly inspecting it. Something Trump also caused when he let DOGE and RFK tear apart regulatory and inspector bodies. Hence why we're currently in an all time high of recalls.

Oh, and in the case of crops, you know what you need for those? Workers. The workers Trump caused a shortage of with his ICE shenanigans. The supposed replacement by native workers didn't happen, hence why we have over 2 million unfilled agricultural jobs.

Gas meanwhile... well, let me put this plainly; 20% of the world's oil supply is currently tied up because of a war Trump started. I'll let you draw your own conclusions on how that might, MIGHT, affect gas prices. Or you can just compare gas prices from last year to this year and figure it out yourself.

Not really related to what we're talking about but sure, I can play this game. Biden added 30% and Obama added 87%.

member when Biden increased the price of all goods by 166 billion dollars and gave that money back to the businesses? nope, that was Trump

I do. He and Congressional Democrats sat on the Epstein files his whole term, and it was Trump and Congressional Republicans who released them.

welp, the shill is defending pedophiles again. time to head out

I also can't believe people defend Biden and his refusal to release the files. But we must be tough and fight the good fight.

"No"

It's not an artificial constraint, this is actual numbers instead of whole admin time averages. When Biden left office, average gas was around $3 and dropping. What price is it now anon?
>>
>>1535814
According to the data they were more expensive than the middle when we came out of quarantine.

It was because of this increased demand in early 2022 that prices surged and then they came back to normal.

https://www.dallasfed.org/research/economics/2022/0621

Do we know the reason gas prices have increased these past couple months?

Really.

In 2021 he paused drilling/leasing on federal land (prices went up in 2022 right?)

He killed the Keystone Pipeline in 2021 (I wonder if that had an effect in 2022?)

He increased royalty rates for drilling on federal land by 8%

And pushed through a bunch of regs that made O&G exploration, extraction and refining faaar more expensive.
>>
>>1535833
>Are the gas prices right now higher or lower than they were when Biden left office?
They are lower than Bidens average.
>>
>>1535836
because absolutely nothing else could've affected prices in 2022.

Also, retard, prices hit their peak in 2022 and then were coming down by the end of that year. By your logic they should've kept going up. This also ignores the fact prices were rising since the end of 2020. Why could that be?

Maybe trying to tear down our oil production in the middle of a pandemic was a bad idea?

>Also, retard, prices hit their peak in 2022 and then were coming down by the end of that year.
Yes, because - and let me get my notes here...
>realized he fucked up, begs OPEC for more oil, they laugh at him, goes back to oil companies he promised to get rid of and begs them to produce now that gas is $5+ a gallon in exchange for walking back some of his EOs

Biden screwed with oil prices because he was trying to follow the Green New Deal.
Trump was tricked into bombing Iran by the zionist lobby in America.
Biden knew what he was doing and acted out of maliciousness. Trump is just a boomer who got propagandized (many such cases).

>>
>What fucking systemic solution do you think there is to this?
Just wait for a couple of months. Despite any claims to the contrary by desperate miggers, the Democrats will take the Senate & HoR in the midterms, thus the only things Trump will be able to do without the Democrats' permission is play golf, and the only actual power he'll have left is to open the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics: if he dare show his retarded orange face there without being booed.
There's the solution.

Start another forever war etc? the Democrat-controlled Senate & HoR can say 'No' and that's the end of it. Trump can only do what it likes now because the Republicans have both the Senate & HoR. But after the midterms and the Democrats take control of the Senate & HoR, Trump becomes lame duck a l'orange.
